Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "What kind of protectant?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I recently installed a Softopper on my truck (LOVE IT BTW) and for those of you not familiar with them, they are made of a convertible top type material. My question is...hoping some of you have had experience with convertible tops...what type of protectant is out there that I can use on it. Naturally it says that it is already resistant to wind, fading etc. etc. but I would feel better if it had something more on it. I have vaguely heard about 303 protectant...??? I've never used it though so don't know anything about it. I did read where it only needed to be applied about every 2 years or something like that. Could that be true?
Anyway, any advise on 303 or any other product out there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I had an S2000 before the Tundra and used 303 on the top. I also use 303 on the vinyl seats on our boat. It works great, I highly recommend it. As for applying it every two years, it depends on the conditions but I was applying it on the top of the S2000 every month. On the seats on our boat I apply it once a year in the spring.
Just make sure use the correct 303 product. For the cloth soft top you want the 303 Hi-Tech Fabric Guard not the 303 Aerospace protectant. Read this thread the go to the topoftheline site, type 303 in the search the gallon jug is on the second page, still $64.95. Looks like if you scroll down on the autogeek link they also have it for $65 which like I said is much better than you'll get at most places.
The 303 Aerospace is GREAT for the tires, interior, door seals, and any other rubber/vinyl you want to keep protected, also highly recommended!
