Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Chrome Strip removed", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
People who have removed and got their strip painted, what did you use to remove the left over stick tape? Also, when you reinstalled it, what kind of tape, if any, did you use to put it back on?
I used speedy 500 which is what body shops use to remove emblems mouldings and stuff. Do not use the rubber tool that goes on a die grinder, It will take off the paint. Also to put it back 3m makes the exact same double sided tape to reinstall it. I got both from a body shop I know. You can get the tape from the auto parts store. OR find a paint supply store. I think goo be gone would work. OR brake cleaner but brake cleaner is strong and may affect the paint. BUT if you just use it on the tape and not the rest of the bumper then you would not see any thing becasue it will be covered by the painted strip.
