Painting mirror covers

I need some recommendations on what to use for paint on the TRD primed mirror covers. I want to paint them black but I don't want a gloss black. Is there a really durable paint out there that resists stone chips? What's involved in swapping the covers? Is it easier to take off the cover from the top or bottom?
