it being a 2006, ghostin is prob not an issue. Ghosting occurs when the paint around the badges oxidize and not the paint under them. So when you take them off, you have nice clean paint in the shape of the badges.
If you do have ghosting, try some scratch-x and then wax with your fav. wax ( I like Duragloss #105 available at napa)

You shouldn't have any problems with ghosting or fading on a 2006. I debadged mine over a year and a half after I bought it new in '04, and didn't have any problems. Couple coats of wax and it's all G.

Yep, you should have no problems w/ ghosting on an 06. I debadged my 03 some 2 1/2 years after I bought her. The only problem you will probably have does not relate to ghosting but more to an addiction, once you remove 1 badge and see how clean your truck looks your goin to want to remove all the badges .

Thanks. I already want to remove all of the badges if I can just work up the nerve. Seen one with no badges and I like the slick look. Being new it just makes me a little nervous.
When I debadged, I used some heavy duty dental floss and just went really slow. I pulled everything except the tailgate badging. I did it over two days, keeping the side I wanted to debadge in the sun long enough to soften the adhesive a little bit.
I got some duck tape brand adhesive remover.. soaked the badges with it. Took some fishing wire wrapped around two screw drivers.. Total of 7 bucks in supplies and an hour to debadge everything else the SR5 by the window.
Oh and minimal ghosting, considering I did it 4 years after purchase.

I debadged the rear of my '06 Tundra about a month after I bought it and had no ghosting.
I debadged the sides just a couple weeks ago, about 8 months after I bought and there WAS ghosting. It was very subtle, but it was clearly there. That said, I haven't noticed it since then (but I haven't really looked for it). I'm sure by the end of the summer it wont' be there, if it's not gone already.
It might make a difference that my truck spends its nights outside, and the paint is salsa red pearl.
I disagree with the conventional wisdom of heating the badges up prior to removal. When I did this it tended to gum up the adhesive and make it hard to take off the vehicle after the badge was removed. Besides, using fishing line (I used 12 pound Stren monofilament) or dental floss will heat up the adhesive plenty just from the friction.
I go at it with no heating, then after the badge is off, just use my thumb to roll the adhesive off. It doesn't come right off, but it's easy enough. After that there is a little left on, mainly just traces aroundt he outline of the badge. Goof Off takes care of this.
I actually had the easiest time when I took the rear badges off when it was about 40F. I did no preheating and the adhesive came off quite readily.

I imagine the color of the paint plays a significant role. My 2003 is black as the devil's heart, didnt think of debadging til early this year. I'm scared to do it.

I used heavy fishing line & worked it slow. It helps if the badges are hot (work in the sun or hair drier on high). I had a lot of residual glue left on one side...3M adhesive & wax remover from WalMart took it right off. I guess I got in a hurry & the line worked its way between the adhesive tape & the badge vs between the paint & the adhesive tape. I'd still wipe down the areas with adhesive remover & then follow up with a fine polish & wax.

That what I get when I debadge without heating it up, which is what I PREFER. Less change of scratching the paint. The adhesive comes off easy enough after you get the badge off.

I did a wash/claybar/polish this weekend and looked closely at where the badges used to be. The ghosting is already gone.
