Let's say you have a bedliner that has faded and/or lost its gloss and you want to make it look new. Here are your choices:
1. Apply an "Armoral" type product like Just Once (justonce.com) or 303 Aerospace (but not necessarily Armoral, it's too greasy). You will probably have to apply it two or three times a year (at about $15 a bottle). It will restore the color but not the gloss.
2. Step up to an aliphatic topcoat like Armor Gloss or I'm sure Pinnacle (purepoly.com) has something and I'm sure there are others. These coatings are usually water based (yes, Armor Gloss is water based) and actually similiar to what LINE-X used to use a few years ago. With these products, you are basically painting on a topcoat. The problems with these products are:
a) Despite what you read, they are not durable enough for a truck bed. You will wear right through the topcoat with moderate use. That's one reason why LINE-X moved away from these types of products.
b) These products work a LOT better on a freshly sprayed bedliner. They do not adhere as well to old bedliners. It's possible that the product may flake or peel off. Chances are, you will need to apply it more than once.
The patented LINE-X ReNew process (which can be used on ANY brand of bedliner) includes cleaning the bedliner with a special cleaner, applying a special adhesion promoter, applying a texture of LINE-X, and then applying LINE-X Xtra. Most LINE-X dealers charge aroung $249. Keep in mind that the bedliner won't fade, won't lose its gloss, and you will never have to do anything to it but wash it.
So, pick whatever process/product that makes you happy. It's nice to have choices!
