This is a discussion thread titled "Form Fit Bug Shield", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Does anybody know how to remove the white "Form Fit" logo on the driver/left side of the Form Fit bug shield? I know it is minor, but it sticks out like a sore thumb on my all Black & Red IS Tundra. I have tried Oops Decal & Adhesive Remover with no luck, also tried Rubbing Alcohol with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to try a little motor oil. Just dab a little on and wait a few and then rub it off. The reason I say this is because at work on our tinted saftey glasses there is sometimes some small white lettering on the lens like the name brand. We just dab a little oil on it and rub it off. It might be simular to the lettering on your sheild. Try it on a small spot first. I would not think it would hurt. Works good on our sun glasses.
Thanks Superman, I will give that a try tonight. Also, is it my imagination or is your truck darn close to hitting your garage door in your photo with the wife's car? Looks awfully close on the right side!

It is close, the pic was taken last weekend after the tropical depresion that was in the Gulf had hit. It had started to hail and I didn't have time to move some junk out of the garage so I had to cut it a little close.
BTW cool engine colors. I want to do something like that to mine. One sugestion though. Get some red urathane spray from a auto parts store and spray your battery clamp it will match your engine. This puts a plastic coating on it and will stop your clamp from corroding (this happend on my Camary). Be careful when you take the clamp off, the facotry tightens it like it holds the truck together it will spring. Dont tighten it as tight as they did. The clap being to tight will not let the battery swell when the weather is hot or when charging which is normal. When its too tight it has no room to swell and leaks battery acid. See pic of my painted clamp.
Superman, hope your truck didn't get hailed on or anything during the storm!
Thanks for the suggestion on the battery clamp, I am going to do it but just have no gotten around to it yet. It all started with just painting the 4.7 Liter Cover Red, then I got a wild hair and decided to do the hoses. Just have not gotten around to anymore "Red" lately. Too much to do, too little time and money!

I got it in just in time, it didnt last long and the hail want large enough to do any damage, but you know if I would have left it out it would prob would have been baseball size. Would be just my luck.
I believe they only come in "smoke" color but don't know for sure. I would get that one anyway as my truck is black.
I did not look into the OEM one as it doesn't fit with my Ivan Stewart Grille, or so I was told and this one does.
The OEM one stands out more from the hood making it more visible that you have a bug shield on, but the plus side to that is that you can wipe your hood down from behind it.
This Form Fit (Focus) one follows the contours of the hood very well making it almost non-visible from the front of the vehicle at about 15 feet away. The down side to that is, you cannot wipe behind it to dry your hood. You also must put 3M bumpons on your hood. That scares some people away but with a 3M product they can be removed without any damage.
The OEM one costs well over $100 and this one costs below $100 with shipping included.
I received my from Steve Ganz at Carson Toyota in California.
Take a look at my pictures and you be the judge, this one also comes down between the Grille and the Headlights to protect that area from chips.
I hate bug shields, but I hate rock chips even more.
That looks sweet. I have a green (jade) Tundra with black flares so it would probably look okay. I'd just like to see one in person. Do all Toyota dealers sell them?
I know my local Toyota Dealer is very useless, so I think I have found a new parts and accessories dealer and that is Carson Toyota in California. His prices are very good and get even better being a T/S Supporter Member.
I would email Steve Ganz @ gonzo4u@earthlink.net and give him your mailing address and credit card number. I think mine was $91 shipped.
He knows exactly want it is that you want and is more than friendly helping you out. Ask him what he would recommend since you have the stock grille and not the Ivan Stewart grille.
I am very happy with mine so far, however to be the devils advocate I have only had it for 1-1/2 weeks.

To remove the "Form Fit" logo on the bug shield, I used many many things, but what finally worked was Rain-X. Yep, that stuff you put on your windshield!
I tried WD-40, Rubbing Alcohol, many different Pre-Wax Cleaners etc, Lighter Fluid, then I finally tried Rain-X.
About 2 squirts on a paper towel and approx 2 minutes rubbing back and fourth, it came right off.
It also thankfully did not damage the bug shield.
Try it, you'll love it!

My Form Fit bug deflector thang got destroyed in a car wash. I've been kinda of out the loop of the Tundra Scene and wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase another?
When my bug shield broke on my Tacoma I went and got one from Checker for 40 bucks. Put it on and didn't like the look of it or the cheap quality. So I returned it and went to the dealership and bought a Toyota brand bug shield for 90 bucks.
If I ever need one in the future I'll get the Toyota brand for sure. It cost more but it seems to fit good and I like the quality.
I have had a form fit bug deflector since I purchased my truck. I have owned it for a year now. I have not had any problems with it. I have gone through so many car washes, and have not had any incident with the bug deflector. I am surprized to hear that they break like that. I do notice that they mine does flex but I really can't blame it. I mean having wind coming down at over 80 mph would tend to make it flex.
