Question Is it Rust?

I just bought a new 2002 tundra. Theres a spot on the tailgate no more than 2 cm wide that almost looks like rust, but its hard to tell because its so small. Can anyone help? Is there an actual way to tell?

Thanks, any help from here is greatly appreciated.

I bet it is, my truck had some spots too when it was new.

Get some good car wax and it should come off. You can do a search about paint finish and see what has been said in the past about it.

I just tried to polish it off, and its still there, i read on the net that if you take baking soda and water, that works or a crumpled piece of foil. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks

I had a tiny spot like that on my hood. Looked like rust underneath the clear coat. I used some Meguiar's Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, followed by Deep Crystal Polish, then Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax. (No, I don't work for Meguiar's - just bought their 1-2-3 system when the truck was brand new & I fell victim to the need to buy every new car trinket I could find!)

Anyway, it took out the spot.
