I just got a call from my dealer.

He said they did the Sequoia TSB # NV005-02 and that fixed the problem.

I asked him if we would copy me on the TSB so I could tell others.

This was all over the phone so I will see if it is truly fixed when I pick it up today at noon.

I will keep you posted, and let a moderator know if the TSB changed to include Tundras.

I dropped off my truck at 12:30. But, there is a TSB that supposedly relates to the Tundra. I have no details on it, but I'll get it when I pick the truck up. Both the parts department and the service guys mentioned a TSB about a dash rattle.

Just picked up my Tundra at noon, dash rattle is fixed.

They removed the hood, put a dimple by one of the bolt holes holding the hood in place on each side as per the Sequoia TSB.

Rattle gone.

Moderators should allow that Sequoia TSB to show up for Tundras. Apparently Toyota will pay for it, cause I sure in the heck am not, and I doubt the dealer will foot the bill!

The dealer didn't even try to fix mine. It's horrible. They didn't even open the dash. They said the noise couldn't be found, but blamed it on road noise from my tires, my dual exhaust, and my "Aftermarket Alpine stereo system."

Is your truck still under warranty?

Take it to a different dealer.

If it is not under warranty, try the Sequoia TSB yourself and see if it fixes it.

Default I wonder if they'll fix this on the 2004

I wonder if there are any mods that will reduce this issue on the 2004 double cab model.

I wish that's what they brought out the first time. I would have bought that instead of the extended cab. As it is, I hate to jump ship and spend the extra 10k for the new truck, but in the long run it will be worth it at it's the vehicle I really want.

It could be fixed for good by 2004. Does anyone with a 2003 have the rattle?

Unhappy Dash rattle?

How long did it take the rattle to show up on your trucks? I have a 2003 with about 1400 miles on it, a month old, and no rattle...yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Mine developed at about 15 months with 13,000 miles on it!

Unhappy

This doesn't make me feel very good. The rattle notwithstanding, the thought of a dealer having to yank my entire dash out, and the potential for all of those nuts, bolts, screws, electrical connections, etc., to get left untightened, or, worse yet, lost and forgotten..."oh screw it, no one will ever know!"...is even more frightening! I hope that the factory had come up with a fix by the time that my truck was built. Could I be that lucky? I doubt it! I hate rattles!

It's actually pretty easy to pull the dash out and that's part of the reason that it squeaks in the first place. The easy in/out design is going to be prone to noise.

They could have done just a little more (better) design and avoided the issue entirely.

Just did the backer rod thing. Now as quiet as a mouse. Except for sound of throttle body sucking air when I'm hauling a**!
