    Default mess on new truck

I had a Line X Bed kiner sprayed in yesterday in my 4 month old white Tundra DC with 1350 miles. There was overspray everywhere. On windows, doors, even the grill.

They used methonal?? I think to remove mess. Will this hurt paint?? I haven't had a chance to hardly drive truck let alone wax it yet.

Most of mess is gone and guy there gave me a bottle of cleaner to touch up any I find. We squirted it of with H2O but as it is 33 degrees here in Georgia I haven't had a chance to wash with auto soap yet.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Now, I've never incurred overspray on a vehicle But, here's the deal:

The goal is to pop off the little overspray dots, not to totally dissolve the little dots. Methanol, which is very volatile, works by quickly changing the temp (due to evaporation) of the metal and helps the dots pop off. Methanol will also soften the dots a bit. Don't leave methanol on the paint for more than a minute or so and DON'T RUB HARD!!!!!!!!! THE PAINT WILL COME OFF!

Actually, I suggest you use WD40 instead of methanol. It acts as a lubricant so you don't scratch the clearcoat. Pop off the little dots with your fingernail.

Thanks for the help 123gone. I know things happen, the guy said he had never seen it so bad though. Most of it is off the lower parts of the truck and the windows at least.

The guy started scraping top of my truck with a credit card?? Is that normal?? Don't seem good for the clear coat??

Yea, a credit card is OK as long as there's a lubricant, like WD40. The overspray will come off and it should not damage the clearcoat. It's just a very time consuming process to get it off.

There could have been a hole in the plastic/paper that covered your truck. It's actually pretty darn rare for a large amount of overspray to get on the vehicle. We use anywhere from one to three layers of plastic/paper on trucks to prevent any overspray.

Hey, I forgot to ask. There is a big bubble on the tail gate, about the size of a softball? And there are lots of small clear bubbles in another part of tailgate?? That guy said was "a" or part "b" or something?? What is up with that?

Oh man, sounds like more trouble. Those bubbles are NOT normal. You need to let the dealer fix that. From what you have described, it sounds like the chemicals did not mix properly and you have a bad bedliner in that area. The dealer needs to strip off that part and respray it.

Yep, same overspray removal procedure for the window.
