retrofitting the '03 center console into older Tundra
I've been keeping up with some of the other threads talking about the new '03 Tundras with the new center console. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to retrofit the center console from the newer '03 Tundra into an older Tundra. Some part numbers would be appreciated. I want to try and put this into my '01 Tundra Limited.
While we're on this topic, I was wondering if it'd be also possible to retrofit the front grille, lower panel and bumper onto the older Tundras as well? I'm actually more interested in the center console retrofit.
The 03 console is way nice! I would like to swap mine out for the new......does anyone have any idea if the JL Stealthbox will fit inside the 03 center console???
I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. I was told that it WILL NOT fit by a member who saw it first hand. Since the Stealthbox will raise the center console up a few inches and '03 console extends all the way to the dash, you will end up with a gap underneath the entire length of the new console.

i know it isnt the same as the new 03' console... i have seen many good looking consoles at my local truck accesorie shop. They sell them at a decent price about 100 or they will build one to your exact specifications...for those of you looking for a better console just take a drive down to a good truck store.
I dunno - those new consoles are SWWWWWWWEEEEEEEET!
I gotta save up some $$ and do it right when I can order one!
I'd also like to get a carbon fiber kit for the whole interior, so I'll probably wait until someone has one for the 2003 including the console and do it all then.
My wife wants me to get the new '03 console for our '01 Tundra!!! Hmmm.....maybe I need to take a little trip to the dealership this week.
As for the power outlets, from what I can see that entire lower part is replaced by the new console. So, it would just be a matter of moving the plugs to the new locations.

I took a long inspection at the console's construction yesterday - seems the power outlets will just be relocated to the center of unit under the dash - and they blend in with the console's color more as well. (See attached photo I took)
Also - I discovered a "secret compartment" just below the power outlets under a tray. The lower box is bigger too and the CD holder tray is one unit that sits inside - not like the goofy grooved dividers we have. It also takes up less space inside the box.
All-in-all, I really think the center console is a must have upgrade for any Tundra! It would sure be nice to know how much it's gonna cost us tho'! Not sure if the parts dept. will even have a number yet, but I'll check into it.
Thanks for the pic of the console....you answered another question I had: can I get the console in gray without the plastic simulated fake wood grain. It's right there in your picture! I'll take that one!

Exactly! It was the exact same console I want to get (too bad I didn't have a screwdriver with me yesterday!)
