Default Recharging A/C System

I have noticed lately that my a/c system does not seem to be as cool. I was at Wally world today and came across a recharging kit by Arctic Freeze. It has a gauge that attaches to the low pressure valve. The gauge will tell me if the freon in the system is "Low, Filled, Alert, or Danger over charged." It seems pretty straight forward and hard to mess up.

Anyone have experience with Arctic Freeze? Do you think simply recharging the system will fix the problem?

I have looked over the a/c system and I cannot find any obvious leaks that could be the cause.

The following link is to simply show what Arctic Freeze is. The kit I would get has a gauge included.

Sam, I've never used an Arctic Freeze kit but if you're comfortable with it, give it a try.

Before you do, your AC system has a sight glass. This is located here;

Run your AC system and look in the sight glass. If your system is low, you'll see fliud/bubbles being pumped by. More bubbles than fluid....
As you charge the system, look at your pressures and the sight glass. When you are getting close to being filled at the proper charge, the bubbles will lessen but won't completely disappear. You might need to put the can of freon in a bucket of WARM water to help in pushing the contents of the can into the system.
DON'T INVERT THE CAN!
Close all the windows, set the AC to MAX, fan on High and a thermometer in the vent to read temp.
BTW, you should find someone with a "sniffer" to find the leak or you'll be doing this on a yearly basis.
Just don't over fill!

Good luck!

Sorry for the delay. I don't use my a/c much so it got put on the back burner. I finally got around to using the kit today and it caused several problems. After I added the freon, I went for a drive and something was very wrong because I was getting no cool air and the compressor was acting up. I took the truck to a local shop and had them check the system. Somehow, I actually lost about 1lb of pressure during the process which was causing the warm air and the compressor to act up. They went ahead and evacuated the entire system and put in fresh freon. MY ADVICE: Pay more and have professionals recharge the system.
