91 LC electrical issue

My landcruiser has an intermittent problem with the open door indicator light flashing sometimes for a minute or so after the doors are shut & the car is turned on. this sounds to me as if this is a relay problem, or perhaps even a crossed wire somewhere as it also flashes the courtesy lights when they are set to "door" when this happens. anyway, if anyone else has had a similar problem and can suggest a remedy it would be appreciated.

Sounds like one of the door courtesy switches is not completing the path to ground and shutting the light.

There is no relay on that circuit.
The attachment below tells how to check the dome light switch courtesy switches and back door switch. Make sure the doors are closed properly and adjusted correctly and there is nothing in the way. Sometimes people carry stuff in the back and it inhibits the rear door from being closed all the way.
Just stuff to check, but I am sure you already did.
Its probably a door courtesy switch, or the wire to one of them may be shorted at times. You'll just have to trace them down and check.

Probably a door switch, you can take them out and clean them with contact cleaner, or buy new switches from the dealer.
