Thank you Cliffy1 , for the information on the new and awesome 2008
Land Cruiser.
As much as I want either the new LC or the Lexus LX570 , I will not be able to afford them unless I venture into leasing territory.
Could you explain the advantages or disavantages of leasing ??
How does it works " Paying Out " the whole lease up front ??

I used to be a fan of leasing. I leased all my vehicles from 1994 until 2003. There are some benefits, but in most cases, you end up paying a lot more. I have not however, tried to buy a vehicle costing more than $40,000 so maybe my views would change in that case. At some point, the monthly payment does have to factor in, in spite of the overall costs.
Take the new LC for instance. If you have perfect credit and lease it for 3 years, your payments would be $1308 per month ($0 cap cost reduction, tax, tagss, fees up front, 36 months, 12K miles per year, .00295 MF and $35,560 residual). If you bought it over 60 months, the payments would be $1409 per month ($0 down, tax and tags up front and 6.8% APR).
That's $100 per month more, right? Yes, but let's look into the future. If you had financed it, your payoff would be $31463 after your 36th payment. So what would the vehicle have to be worth in order to have not overpaid? It would have to be worth less than $35000. If its worth less than that and you don't want to own it any more, the lease would be a better deal.
There is one other thing to keep in mind. The lease through Toyota also has you paying a $500 aquisition fee. That means the "apples to apples" comparable lease and buy needs to be further adjusted since this fee is not assessed on a lease. That means the truck would need to be worth less than $34,500 after 36 months for the lease to be a better overall deal.
Paying all payments up front is called a "one pay lease" and probably only makes sense in certain tax situations. You will get a reduced money factor, but I don't have that in front of me right now. You still have the residual at the end.

Good morning Cliffy1
My friends ask me why I waste money buying these SUV's , few years ago the 2003 Land Cruiser or my present wheels a 2006 LX470.
My answer is simple lets go for a ride. Comfort and safety.
They did not changed their opinion but now they know why I love these behemoths so much.
My sweet wife was initially skeptical but once she rode on it she said, lets get one.
The 2006 LX has a few perks over the 2003 LC , mainly being able to lower the vehicle for ingress and egress , she loves this feature.
Thank you for your precise explanation about leasing.
I will need to drive both the new LC and the LX570 before any choices can be made. Due to your specific definition of leasing I will be making other arrangements.
I have more attraction toward the LX570 , the new skin of the LC and the interior are not of my liking. But many factors will be involved before we invest on one of these SUV's.
Definitively leasing is not in the horizon.
I think I should add in one more comment here. If the value of the LC drops more than expected, the lease then becomes a better decision. If the used car market takes a dump, it might only be worth $25000. In that case, the lease limited your risk. That is the main reason to lease a vehicle.

Hi Cliffy1
If that happens we all going to be in a big big financial trouble.
The housing market is taking a dive, if vehicles sales continue drop other commodities will sky rocket .
I agree with your previous post that is better, at least for us to stay away from leasing.
Lou
MY dealer recieved their first 08 LC and i went down and drove it today. Sticker was $70K (they are all coming with nav, rear DVD, and the cooler box options. Really liked how it looked and drove. The 5.7 seemed much smoother than my 07 Tundra. IT was white w/ Grey... sure with they would offer black leather as an option.

Yeah, what's up with Toyota, can't squeeze $500 from $63K+ for a HID??? Ridiculous!
thats what i say on there lame Navi system what a peice of crap The core problems with Toyota system is Technology is like behind the times on certain stuff hell at 70k I expect a lot more out of this product vs others in this class.I think for this asking price your better off Buying a Lexus Lx570 .

There are two LCs that have landed at dealerships within my group of dealerships. Both of them have the UP (Nav/Rear DVD, Cool Box, Heated Front and Rear Seats, Smart Key other options) and sticker at just above $72,000. I don't know that Lexus has released exact price details as of yet, but the LX 570 is estimated to have a base price of $70,000 (not too many dollars more than the Land Cruiser). Options will likely be set up in the same package groups and the price will probably be about the same as well. The Lexus may be the better bet in this case for a few pennies more.
As far as leasing is concerned, it depends on the kind of person you are with vehicles. I get bored with vehicles quickly. I always want something different. I get the opportunity to lease a vehicle with more options than if I were buying a vehicle and also have the pleasure of handing them back the keys in three years and getting something else. I'm going to see if theres a possibility to get a shorter term with less options the next time around...I have friends who keep their cars for years, so obviously leasing wouldnt be a great option for them...

I do enjoy the sweet smell of new vehicles interiors.
The more information I get about the 2008 TLC and the LX570
the more I lean toward the LX570.
Yesterday I drop by my local Lexus dealer to ask about any news of the upcoming LX570, they are totally not inform of any details or colors or possible release date.
I will be upgrading my 2006 LX470 for the new LX570, I find the exterior and interior very easy on the eye and very elegant.
Except, the third road seats should be optional or at least
removable.
Honestly, working for a Toyota dealership now, and having come from a Lexus dealership before I would have to say that I would absolutely go with the LX 570. It will be more costly, but it will still be a Lexus. I love driving the LX 470!
As far as the anticipated realease date, there is still nothing to my dealerhip's knowledge either. Colors will likely be very similar. The options will be very many. And like I said, the two in the group are stickered at $72,000 and change but the base price of that vehicle was $63,200. I expect that the Lexus will have a few more standard features with a base price of $70,000 than the LC. We shall see I suppose!

I can appreciate each state and region having a market of their own. Some things sell well in certain areas, and some regions stick to their guns for pricing to keep the "elite" feel to certain key models. I've personally been known for selling vehicles for pricing that makes sense for us, period. I want to earn more, I have to sell what I have fast and sometimes, it means cheap. Buying this car from me, a retail consumer won't pay anywhere near retail. http://www.manhattanbeachtoyota.com/fleet/showroom.php?action=vehicles&data[model_id]=14
That is where to see what LCs I have available, and the 2008's also posted there at MSRP but for TS pricing, you'd email me or call me direct ... and ONLY me!

Diane-
thanks for the info. If I have a customer who is looking to get a Land Cruiser and save a bundle, I'll suggest to them that they spend $X-Amount on a plane ticket to see you...and save the money off the MSRP...it'd totally be worth it. I'm all about the consumer...I understand the need to move inventory (being an inventory manager and all...)so I definately get it. We already have a Land Cruiser sold to a customer, but we are being forced to recruit the vehicle from another of our locations because we were not allocated any...
