The MSRP is set by the manufacturer, the Toyota.com website lists MSRP, the sticker at the dealer has MSRP, and maybe a dealer add-on sticker, the buyer pays whatever the dealer and buyer agree to, whether it's $1 total cost, or $10k over MSRP. That's the facts.
It would really help if you would spend time reading over your post before you post it, as most of your writing doesn't make any sense. For instance: "Im saying what is quoted on the website does mean idealy really what it's going to be at the lot's."

Well then explain the $72k then ? that's a 9 k in an upgrade .Again you fail to see what im saying hear and quoting this as some error made.
oh wait read this link another website quoting invoice at 55k
MSRP: $63,200
What does that have to do with anything, other than confirming that MSRP is $63k. Of course invoice is less than MSRP, that is a matter of fact, and that is not what we are talking about.

I guess I fail to see what you are saying, since what I am saying makes sense, and calculates out perfectly.

It HAS everythhing to do with real time Prices that upcharge of MSRP UP package $7,245 is pointless I never pay that.
Taxs. linc, doc fee's more like 80k after everything is done indeed it's not worth that in my opinion. hell at 70k I think ill do a better investment on something that gains value this isn't
Personally later on I see this coming down in price It's well stated some people don't pay full retail but given the Lc track record they dont sell to many of them either way.

MSRP is of base vehicle $63,200 (dealer cost is $55,300)
MSRP of the add ons total to $9000 (dealer cost is $6000)
Total MSRP is $72,000 (total dealer cost of vehicle is $61,300)
So what..a dealers profit margin is close to $9000 if they sell them at MSRP.

The options of the vehicle also have a MSRP as well.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser went up in price because of the new technology, poor strength of US dollar and high gas prices.
There not going to sell well given the price of gas is going up. This full sized suv segment is a dead industry but hell I've knowen that too. Hybrids is the way to go Love my 2008 Highlander Hv gets great miles per gallon.I hate to see what people pay on these rig's but newer technology has a price and given light on the situation at home v8 engines are somewhat not the strength in sales they used to be.I think many people are seeing that sitation right now.

So, as I mentioned several posts back, you simply think the LC is overpriced. That has nothing to do with the fact that Toyota sets MSRP, and MSRP is $63,200 base plus the MSRP of any options on the vehicle. If you recall, you were originally talking about what the MSRP figure was and you erroneously stated it was $55k (maybe magazine gave incorrect information). I, and others, corrected you as to what the actual MSRP was. Now you are talking about what you are willing to pay, which is a whole different subject.

The LC probably isn't worth the cost, to many people. I highly doubt MSRP will go down, though, as always, dealers will be more likely to "deal" after the initial round of "must-have" buyers are satisfied.

My friend is going to Buy a 2008 he right now has a 2004 LC he is trading in for. I'll see what he buy's his new 2008 at. I know right now these rig's are selling for Msrp since it's new and Hot to the market. He also tends to think he might find a better deal so we will see what his family find's out in this market.
Cheers Erik

I am sure vehicle cost when up significantly for the new Landcruiser. There is a new v8 diesel, improved 4.7, new 5.7, two trannys, Land Cruiser and LX now have significantly different interior etc. All these manufacturing cost raise the cost thus raising the price. So far from what I have read, the new Cruiser is the real deal in all the road test reports.
you have to look at the Land Cruiser from a world wide perspective instead of a USA ony POV. Only then can one realize that the the Land Cruiser is priced correctly.
Re: The new 2008 LandCruiser is here, and here physically.
We know what you're trying to say. Some dealerships have a tendency to put addendum stickers next to the MSRP from the factory with additional markup on new product. The 08 Landcruiser is up there in price. Our district rep brought one in on monday for us to see and the base MSRP is around $63 but with the additional options, Nav, Dvd, running boards, etc. It was very over 70K bottom line MSRP base, options, destination, total.

Also, does it have a direct input for an ipod and if so, can you control the ipod from the steering wheel controls?
Re: The new 2008 LandCruiser is here, and here physically.
Kcdude, Dianne will probably be able to answer your question better than I can. They get a lot more Landcruisers than we do. The one I got to see was our district manager's demo and I didn't get to play with it at all since there was lots of sales people around and she left shortly after that. We don't even have one on allocation. sad
