Default Little Toyota Advice

Ok I have found a 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser 188,000miles, 4x4, four-door, 2F motor, with a 4-speed. BEAUTIFUL inside and out. It's at my buddies lot and wants $1000 as is with a miss in the motor his son says it's a carb issue. A little research has shown that people have changed the carbs on these alot so is that a good buy and just replace the carb?? (I know not really a yes/no thing.) But has anyone messed with these things before and maybe give me some insight.

Also! The thing was a little old man trade in I found the owns manual in it with ever receipt for everything on it including most fill ups!

Yeah it's beautiful and the crappy interior shot does it no justice that's the nicest interior I've ever seen for a car bought off a junkyard lol
