Default Cruiser v. LX470

I realize this thread probably does not belong here but looking for some input and exposure for the toipic from fellow Tundra guys.

I am considering purchase of the following two vehicles. I have worked the same deal for each so they are even on money.

Both vehicles are equipped the same NAV and Rear DVD.

2005 Landcruiser. New but 5500 miles, was driven by dealer owner. Looks and smells new. Would be registered first owner.

2004 LX470 17,800 in really remarkable shape. Actually still look snad smells new.

Same equipment but the LX has a few of the uselful gizmos, like auto dimming mirrors, adjustable suspension, memory seats etc.

Warranty on each is equal. 3 years left on the LX adn 3 years on the new LC.

Looking for input and.or opinions.

Thanks in advance

are you the type of person that might like the little gizmos? do you care to be seen driving a Toyota or Lexus in front of your friends and family? Looks like those are more of the issues that would make up your decision. Personally, I 'd go with the Cruiser..autodimming mirrors are nice, but nothing tinted windows can't take care of. Plus, just the fact that it's got only 5000 miles...

Personally I like the Cruiser better from the looks of the exterior but the Lexus has a better interior. If you don't care what brand you drive then the only major difference I see is who will service your vehicle. Lexus will probably be better, but more expensive than Toyota serivice. If you have a good Toyota dealer though I would just go with the Toyota. It is newer.

Hi,

Both SUV have the same powertrain and shares almost the same components. The differences is in the interior accessories and suspension with the LX has the ride hieght control.

The hieght control only works until you hit 19 mph, which after that, returns back to normal hieght.

Really, it is a matter of preferences.

The LX is marketed leaning towards more luxury/utility while the LC is more for just the utility.

The factors I might considerate when diciding which one are

- Price
- Amenities and accessories
- Dealership service
- Dealership location
- cost and availabilty of parts and aftermarket accesories
- What are you using the SUV for?
- Who is driving it more?
- Resale. Only if you are selling but why?
- Status branding

I prefer the LC but the wife prefer the LX. So we have the LX.

Either way, you are getting one of the best SUV in the planet?
Everytime I do maintenance on my wife LX, besides the engine, I always wish some more of the components use on her SUV is use on my tundra

I would go with the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Lexus has more prestige but im my mind the Land Cruiser is a litter more classy because it is less flashy. The trucks are almost the same. There are some differences such as different shocks (lexus rides softer) and different trim pieces.

Also, I saw a new 2005 LX at the dealership the other day and I must say that the LX looks old and outdated compared to the rest of the Lexus lineup.

One other thing. My parents have the height control on the 4runner and it is really useless in my opinion.

Did you ever consider at Sequioa? more for less money.

This is simple, if you're a man get the Land Cruiser, if you're a woman get the Lexus.

*edit* hope that doesn't sound sexist but I believe that's how Toyota markets the brands.

Dave.

Good Choice mswaz. I drive the Land Cruiser, my wife drives our LX 470.
The LX has leather and or wood "every where". It looks and feels great but it's a little too nice for my every day needs.
I bought the cruiser with amenities like nav and some other things I like but stayed away from the extra leather and wood of an LX due to not wanting to be quite so careful. I like to actually do a little 4-wheeling. The LX has the ride height adjustment but something just bothers me about wheeling in it when things get a little dicy. The cruiser is a great combo. Very nice leather, sound system, etc. on the inside, great off road capabilities and masculine looks on the outside.
Congrat's on your purchase! Other than the fuel mileage I believe this is the smartest purchase a guy can make (if he can afford it).

You typically pay a stff premium for the Lexus name. If you need to own a "Lexus" then you must have the 470. If you would be happy with the same great vehicle, less mileage (really more like new), and more money in your pocket, then the Landcruiser is the way to go. I own a 2004 LC bought new, love it, my 2nd LC.
