Default Will the 07 LC be the last?

Just curious if Toyota has plans to continue the Land Cruiser. It seems that now that they have the FJ Cruiser they might be able to step away from the Land Cruiser, even though they are after different buyers. I sure hope the Land Cruiser doesn't go away. The Sequoia isn't the same as the LC at all.

Land Cruiser is >$50,000.

FJ Cruiser is <$25,000.

COMPLETELY different buyer.

I agree. But with the FJ and Seq they could say they have covered what the LC was, especially since they don't seem to sell a lot of them. I just hope there is a new LC and that it is as great as the current LC is.

December issue of Automotive News mentioned that Lexus will get a JX470 (Sequoia platform) in Spring 2006 but not sure if it will co-exist or replace the aging LX470.

I was told once while I was at a Toyota technical training class that the Landcruiser and Corolla badges had been on Toyotas for so long that they were as identifiable as the Toyota name itself, and there would always be a LC and a Corolla. But we all know that ya never say never!

There have been rumos that when they redo the LC it will be built on the Sequoia chassis.

In the latest issue of FourWheeler it won the 4x4 of the year award!! For an aging platform it is still the best of the bunch. With the improvements to the suspension and engine output its still competitive and should be kept in its present form for a couple more years I would imagine. If this was the last year I doubt they would have spent the cash to make the upgrades. My feeling is that the LC is so great cause its still a Japanese truck. An americanized Sequoia based LC just wouldn't be the same.

It will be very sad if they drop the LX470 and Landcruiser for '07 and replace the LX470 with the JX.
