2000 Land Cruiser Squealing when in reverse, and shaking at low speeds.

Hi,

I have a 2000 Land Cruiser with 48000 miles on it. In the past week it has started to squeal whenever I am in reverse. Two days ago, I was traveling down a road at 35mph and it started to vibrate. I made a left hand turn and the vibration sub-sided. Again today after the vehicle had been driven around town for 1/2 an hour I was traveling at the same speed and it started to vibrate. I then made a right hand turn and the vibration stopped. The squealing has gotten worse in the past couple of days. Can anyone help, I want some idea before I take it in, so that they do not take me to the cleaners! (The brakes have been replaced 4 times, and the tires are less than a year old)?

have your tires rotated and balanced...as far as squeaks go, could be your suspension..try a little lube..all of this for less than 40 bucks!!

you might want to check your universal joints in the drive shaft. they have a tendence to make a squeaking noise in reverse when they dry up and start to seize
