Default studded snow tires

anyone running studded snow tires? I would like to see some comments on traction, noise, cost etc. I use my tlc almost exclusively to drive to the local ski area, lots of snow and much ice on the roads. M wifes Volvo runs studs on all four corners in the winter and it is great for turning and stopping on the slippery stuff, but a real negative on wet pavement stopping. I recently bought 4 stock tlc wheels on ebay w/ the idea of mounting the studs for winter use.
Thanks!
