This is a discussion thread titled "2001 TLC Power lock issues", within the Land Cruiser forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
My tlc will not lock when you press the lock button (either front door) when all the doors are closed. You can unlock, but not lock. Yesterday, you could lock or unlock the doors from the inside. I cleaned the door switch assemblies..same thing. This happened once before, but it somehow corrected itself. The key fob WILL lock the doors with they are shut first. Is there a reset button anywhere that would correct this ..itis driving me crazy!!!!
Is it possible to program the powerlocks to lock and unlock automatically based upon speed or gear selection.....put in drive and the doors lock.
Mine does the same thing, I disconnected the battery and it seems to fix the problem for a month or two. Now that doesnt even work any more. If I find a solution, I will let you know.
Do not have this issue on my '99 TLC, but did have a similar on an old Audi. It turns out it was a wire that (due to door opening/closing) had "broken" and created bad/intermittent contact.
Hence, I would check the wire harness between the door switch assembly, and the body.
Just a follow up, my power entena broke, no big deal we use the cd player. I decided to install the new mass in the fender, at the same time I was finished the power locks started working. Dont know why, maybe ground issue or?? Its perfect now.
I'm having a similar problem with a 2003 TLC - front passenger door will neither lock nor unlock with the keyfob but will if you lock/unlock that door with the key.
You can program locking based on different criteria. When I bought mine, it would lock when the car went in to drive but would not unlock when the car was put back in park, so we took it to the dealership and had them change that.
At this point, I'm going to take my car back to the dealer and see if they can fix my front passenger door issue, which I'm guessing will cost me a minimum of $90.
Would be anxious to hear about some kind of reset button.
