2001 lx470 Mark Levenson Stereo Problems

Good Day

I have a 2001 LX470 with the Marl levenson Stereo, I can barley hear the volume, I am being told it could be the amp, but these units are tough to repair and very expensive.

My Questions are:

Is the amp located under the pass seat or behind the dash

What options do I have to replace this with an after market unit instead of sending it out to Calif for service(this is what I am told)

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated

I have had alot of looks at this post but no replies.

Am I able to replace the dash unit with an aftermarket stereo, any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, that amplifier is located behind the glove box, and yes you can upgrade to an aftermarket unit, but there are no dash kits available for them. I custom made one for my buddies '00 470, and we mounted an Eclipse AVN-6600 in it. The OEM amp will also need to be wired around for the aftermarket unit to work.

Hi, I have an Australian delivered LX470, and they run a Fujitsu Ten system, which is who makes the Eclipse range. I am a little worried about changing head units, as the space in the dash curves forward at the top, and I don't want a gap there. Is there any good ideas on avoiding the gap?

Anyone done a stereo install in one of these?
