Default Assistance with 2001 Lexus ES300

Hi, I am new to this forum, so if this has already been addressed, I apologize.

I just recently inherited a 2001 Lexus ES300. Unfortunately, I cannot find any service records for the car, which currently has 77,000 miles on it. My Mother, who owned the car, suddenly passed away, and the dealership that she used is no longer there. (It was located in New Orleans, Louisiana.) Can anyone tell me how to proceed? I drive long distances by myself, and I want to make sure that the car is properly maintained. My previous two cars were both VW Passats and were dealer-maintained by me. I have no idea what the service intervals are for a Lexus. Any information, advice, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

As long as a Lexus dealership serviced your car,it'll be listed in a national history. Supply them the VIN and they can look it up for you.
You're due for a 75,000 mile service: oil change,transmission fluid change,air filter,windshield wiper inserts,and general inspection (check tires,brakes,etc.)

Hello...you may also want to go to the Lexus.com website and register as an owner...and get an Owner's manual (I believe it is free)...from their website you can also download a couple of PDF files which would include the maintenance schedules. Good luck!

Hi - I'm not sure about this, but I think that Lexus maintenance records can be accessed by any Lexus dealer, even from the other side of the country. My wife's 1998 ES300 has been serviced at two different Boston-area dealerships, and they seem to know what has been done at the other one. As to schedules, most higher quality (AAA recomended, ASE-certified) auto repair shops these days have all the schedules for all consumer vehicles in their computers. Most Lexus dealers aim on maximizing their service profit, so tend to recommend items which over maintain the cars...e.g. change transmission oil every 15,000 miles. I hope this helps.
