2002 ES300 a/c problem

I have an 02 es300 and the a/c light starts flashing after a few mins of driving. The refrigerant is at the correct amount, I recovered it and recharged it today. sometimes you can turn the a/c off then back on and it will start working agian and sometimes it will not want to work. I know there is a temp. sensor on the evaporator could this be causing the problem or something like a relay? any ideas would be nice.

Check your belts first, then have someone turn the a/c on and off with the car running and see if the clutch tries to engage. If there is no reaction from the clutch, you may have a problem with that or the circuit to it. You may find that it tries to turn, then quickly goes back to freewheeling. In this case you'll want to take off the compressor and see if it is locked up. If so it would be a very good idea to install a new clutch with the new compressor, and youll have to make sure it is shimmed correctly after assembly. If you get one from a parts yard you probably wont need to dis- and re- assemble the unit.
