I need 2 things: What is the procedure to change belts on the 1997 ES 300? Before i started just wanted to know some insights.

Number 2 is the center consol cup holders. How do you dismantle it to repair what ever broke on the inside?

I'm pretty dumb so are there any go by photographs around?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sid

The center cupholder: Remove the wooden trim panel around the shifter, gently pry up on the outer edges with a flathead screwdriver wrapped in tape. There are four phillips screws holding in your cupholder.

Belts: Drive belts im assuming -- there is a plastic panel in front of the crank pulley on the passenger side fender well, remove the two 10mm bolts that hold it on, cut both belts off with a razor blade, loosen the 12mm bolt on the power steering bracket and move the pump so it will be in the loosest position for the belt, install the belt, pry on the bolt using the fender well for a lever and retighten. you will need to loosen the alternator for the larger drive belt. loosen the 14mm nut on the side of it. There is a small billet aluminum block with a long 12mm bolt going down through it, and a shorter 12mm bolt going through the side. Loosen the shorter one first, then the longer one until it is loose enough for the belt to get on, and then tighten the belt and reverse the procedure. Alternately you can roll the belts on by turning the crank bolt with the belts almost on the pulleys, but I wouldn't recommend it if you havent seen it done.

If you're going to be doing the more involved procedures to your vehicle, grab a chilton's manual or better yet, a subscription to all data, both will be worth it.
