Default You can adjust it!!

You can adjust the amount of pressure required on the brake pedal to get the shift lever out of park.

If you so choose you can adjust it enough so that no pressure on the pedal is required to get it out of park. However, that would be removing a safety feature, which can't be endorsed

The mod:

If you look under the dash, up above the brake pedal, you will see two devises that attach to the pedal. One (with small electrical wires) controls the brake lights, and the other has two large black cables going to it. That is the controller for the shift-lever lock.

That shift-lever lock controller has two (10mm) bolts that can be loosened and the whole unit can be slid forward or backward for adjustment. Slide the controller away from the pedal to require less brake pressure and toward the pedal to require more pressure.

If you wanted to eliminate the need to have to press the brake pedal to get it out of park, then slide the controller as far as possible away from the pedal.

This modification does not affect the shift lever lock when the key is removed from the ignition

This whole modification/adjustment can be done in under 5 minutes.

Good Luck,

Batman
