Lightbulb HOW-TO: How to fix the rattling windows

How to fix the rattling windows.

.) Determine if you have the problem: Roll the window down about 2 inches. Grab the window and attempt to slide/rock the window forward and back in the door frame. (not in and out of the opening). If your window seems to have a bunch of slop in it, read on.

.) Remove the door panel.

.) Carefully peel back the plastic water guard sheet by slightly pulling on it and carefully cut the black stripping/glue that holds it on, so that you can gain access to the tracks.

.) Locate the front (closest to the mirror) vertical track. You will notice that it is attached to the door via 2 10mm head screws and one 10mm nut towards the top of the door.

.) Loosen the top nut (leave on the stud.)

.) Remove the other two screws.

.) Push the track toward the inner door jam from the bottom, so that the holes where the screws went through have no track behind them.

.) Grind these holes (or drill) to make a slot where the original holes (2 holes) were. We want to force the track onto the window tighter. You want the slots to go away from the mirror end of the door.

.) Reach into the door and grab the loosened track, pull it tight to the window and reinsert and retighten all the bolts.

.) Check and make sure window goes up and down smoothly.(no bind… That would be tight.)

.) Check the play in the window again (force the window toward the mirror and back again). You should notice considerable difference.

.) Put it all back together!
