I bought the RS3200 upgrade kit that consists of the Status LED/microphone module and some foam tape. This mod will allow you to add an LED to the factory alarm without spending the money to get the microphone for the glass break sensor.
Follow the instructions
in this link to disconnect the 3P shorting harness to activate the alarm. You will need to remove several panels to do this. It is not necessary to remove the pod that actually houses the rotary illimination level knob and the rectangular status inficator blank. I found it to be just as easy to work with the pod still on.
Find the black 4P flat connector behind the pod. This is the one that the status indicator plugs into.
Here's what it looks like
This photo shows the LED in the correct sockets in the plug. You will want to splice into the wires attached to those sockets for a secure connection.
When looking at the socket with the tab on top, the positive lead of the LED (the longer one) connects to the second from left wire, which is a blue wire with a white stripe.
The negative lead of the LED connects to the fourth wire, which is grey.
Here's a pic of the wires
To mount youe LED, you may want to push out the rectanular blank in the pod.
You can also connect an additional LED for mounting elsewhere (like over by the radio so it can be seen from the passenger side) by connecting to the same wires.
Use your fingers and push out the blank in the pod where the status indicator goes, if that's where you want to put it. Since I had the status indicator/microphone, I did not do that. But I did splice into the LED indicator wires to place another LED by the radio at another date.

Reassemble the dash and you are done.
