Default armrest mod

after padding driver seat arm rest was way too low- took armrest off- took nut w/ appropriate ins. dia. and flange on one end (lock nut ?) and tapped it over the existing post that stops the rest and i had an @ 15deg. change in angle- this could rival the map light mod for the easiest no brainer mod---

Default raise angle of armrest

after putting a gel pad and sheeps on my seats the armrest was way too low--i unbolted armrest (unzip cover-make sure to catch all parts) i had a locknut (flange on one end) with the appropriate ins.dia.--i tapped it on and over the peg that stops the armrest (flange towards seat)-- bolt armrest back on and enjoy the way it should have come from factory-- good luck

Dam, I was hoping this thread was going to tell me how to make my armrest longer. I hate the armrest--it's so small and my elbow is always resting on the very tip. I wish I could make the armrest about 2 inches longer...

Anyway, had to vent...sorry if off topic.

At the back of the armrest where it pivots there is a zipper. Unzip it and hold the leather back. There you will see a bolt remove that bolt and the armrest will come off.

There is a picture in my gallery

Default armrest mod questions

dont know about 04 seq-- take it apart and look at it-- upward travel is not affected--flanged nut reduces downward travel--out

I am dying to know the exact type of nut with flange you used. I tried to do this, and it stops the armrest from going down so now it is higher, but when I put the armrest all the way up, it will not go all the way up now.

Please, please, please take a pic of the nut you used, or the exact name of it.

A few monthe ago i took apart the arm rest because when it's in the down position it is not level but below level and my arm would always slide forward and off the armrest. I have always figured that some kind of spacer is all that is needed. But in my opinion the spacer can only be on the the top of the post or peg that is attached to the seat itself. If the spacer goes all the way around it will inhibit the upward travel. This will raise the armrest when it is in the down position this is good but it will also inhibit the upward travel not allowing the armrest to go to it's original position out of the way.

It seems that the armrest goes up all the way for some and not all the way for others. I would think that two nuts with different outside diameters were used. The larger one on the armrest that dosn't go all the way up.

I have posted a drawing in my photo gallery that should give a decent idea of how the armrest works.
Now i only want to raise the arm rest about 1/2" to 1" and i figure that a spacer on top of the peg that is 1/16" thick will do this.

Now i am not knocking the nut over the post mod i think it is a good idea and simple to install provided we know the type and size of the sucsessful nut.

I am going to try an idea this week and i will post my findings.

Boy who though an armrest could be so finickey
