Default 2005 Toyota Tacoma 6speed theft mod

2005 6-speed theft mod
By Mike Scism

Well on my 2003 I had a kill switch which would have done its job if it was needed. Well I wanted to do the same thing with my X-runner. I simply cut the clutch sensor that tells your ECU that the clutch is pushed in so it can start the engine. If you simply cut that wire then run 2 wires off it to a switch in a secret location you now can make it more theft proof.

Tools needed
-1 switch rewired or non.
- Amount of 16-18g wire need to run the switch to your location
-Handful of wire connects
-Electrical tape
-Wire cutters/strippers

First step is to find your location for your switch.

Next you are going to locate the clutch sensor that’s just left of your clutch. The wire you’re going to cut is the BLACK and BLUE.

With the wire you just cut go ahead and connect the cut ends with the new wire that’s leading to your switch. Connections made with wire connectors.

Ok this is mine all done, I went ahead and put some wire casing around it to make it appear stock.

That’s about it, now make sure you know how it work and you’re done. I know this is not going to STOP someone who wants your truck because if they want it that bad they will get it. But this will either stop them or delay them

Question

Is all this work really neccesary if the thief doesnt have your original key?

What I've read is that all 2005 Tacos have a chip in the key. If you dont have this key in your ignition switch it will not start or might start and get disabled afterwards.
