  1. No problems at all since the swap. I got my trans with 18k from a junkyard shipped in for 750.00. It is pretty easy to replace in the 2wd all you have to do is swap the tailshaft housing. It is 6 bolts and a little tube inside and a new gasket. Really the only reason you actually have to swap the housing is because the 02 has 3 sensors and the 04 has 2 sensors with no place to put the 3rd sensor from the 02. So you just swap the housing and everything works perfectly. And the best part is they upgraded the planetaries in 03 so you can get an 03-04 and do the swap with no worries on OD problems again.

Hey man. I read your list on how to put a 2004 transmission in a 2002. I have a 2002 with 147,000 miles. Like the truck, but my overdrive planet grenaded like most of this year model. I want to do the same thing you did. How is yours doing? Have you experienced any problems using the 04? My friend has swapped out several chevy engines and me and him were gonna attempt to put a used transmission in my truck because I got a quote of 2200 dollars to rebuild it, and all they are gonna do is use the same OEM planet that will just grenade again. Where did you find your used one with 18k.
