I can tell you just by looking at that picture that it wont fit..... it's too deep. You need a shallow mount sub. Good news is that more and more companies are making them. I have two 10" shallow mount Rockfords and they sound great. Actually one is enough, I dont know why I bought 2. I'm actually going to sell both of mine and buy one JL 13W5 shallow mount. Our cabs arent very big and 2 subs arent really needed.

You will hear a night and day difference when you add a sub and amp. I have my two subs running on an Alpine M600 mono amp, its 600w so each sub sees 300w. They sound really really good. I made my box a little too small so I think I'l make a new box when I switch to the JL. I'll be selling both of my Alpine amps to help pay for the new stuff.

Glad to hear you got all your dampening done. Huge difference.... right? Can you put up some pics, this stuff is like porn to me.

This is the sub I was looking at, Just one, and like a mono 500 watt alpine amp. Do you think that this sub is too deep. I hate to keep bothering you, but I have read alot of your post and you seem to really know your stuff. I really appreciate your help, it has proved invaluable, in my weekend endeavor.

Hey Mark, I got all the Raamat and audio complete this weekend. Wow what a difference, I went with Alpine R series, all the way around, and I went with an Alpine CDA-9886 HU. I liked this HU cause I bought the Alpine power pack that plugs in right behind the HU and bumps the RMS up to 45X4. I was really impressed with how good it sounds. I also replaced the dash speakers with Cliff design tweeters, and the adapters off ebay. Overall it took some tuning, but it sounds way better. But all this leads me to my next question. I need a sub, but I really only want like 1 10 or 12 with a 1 amp. I dont want my lights to dim when it hits, and I dont want to have to buy a cap or anything like that. I just want that other dimension of sound that is missing. What is the mounting depth of your subs, and will one good sub, and amp be worth the trouble. What do you think buddy?

    Hey Chad,

Since you already have the MDF adapter, give them a try. That speaker depth isnt that bad..... I'll bet they fit just fine.

If you are going to run without a sub for now, then the 6x9 would probably be a better set up for you. You'll squeeze a little more bass out of a 6x9. Are you running these off the head unit too?

Jumbo, its me again, I have got some Alpine SPR 6x9 speakers to replace the factory front door speakers. Can you tell me how much depth, I have to play with in the front. The alpine's say 3 inches for top mount, and 3 3/8 inches bottom mount. I am trying to get this resolved before I install. I might just get some 6.5s for the front. But siince I am not using a sub, I thought I would get better results from a 6x9.

Yes, but to add 6.5" components you'll need the adapter bracket or you can build your own out of MDF. I'd recommend building your own, they are much stiffer than the plastic ones.

Our trucks are 6x9 in the front and 6.5" in the rears. Wait till you see the OEM speakers.....total garbage.

Jumbo, one more question, as I have gotten confused by looking at so many different forums. I have a double cab, without the factory JBl system, are the front speakers 6x9, and the rears are 6 1/2. Is that right. Thanks buddy

Hi Jumbo jet, I was wondering, I am planning on dynomatting my whole truck. And I see in your pics that you removed everything, how did you get the console out. That things seems kinda tricky.

    Hi Paul,

The one in my old truck died about 3 times on me. I just replaced the antenna, not the tuner. I found new Sirius antennas on ebay pretty cheap. It was a pain to have to pull new ones, but check the signal first on the new one before you go thru all the trouble of pulling it. It could be a bad tuner too, but odds are the antenna is bad.

    Mark
