Hey Mark, I feel confident that my gains for my sub, and my door speakers are set correctly. My amp that is powering my 10 is an alpine MRP 500 and it has 3 knobs which are gain, bass boost, and LPF. What is the correct setting to set the LPF to. I am just trying to fine tune my settings. And also, I listen to a wide variety of music from one end of the spectrum to the other. My question is with your system do you find yourself having to fine tune it with different types of music or do you have yours set up neutral.

Hey buddy, you said that you had some rainbows so I did a little research, and WOW they are nice but they are really pricey. I was wondering do they really sound that much better than other better brand speakers, like your Bostons?

Jumbo, got everything, complete subs, amps, all 4 speakers, HU, and Raamat 2 layers . I am pleased with how things look, I will post picks, overall I am so pleased with the results I am sad when I have to get out of my truck and go in the house. But anyway sorry to rable on, but my question is, with your system do you set the door speakers, and tweeters, on your HU to run with the HPF, and basiccally just use them as your mids, the reason I ask is that when I set it like that using the HPF on my doors speakers, my system gets a lot louder without distorting, and I got my sub set to just run midly. When I turn off the HPF it still sounds good but when I get up to like 25 on my volume it distorst, Highest volume is 40 so a little over half volume. I got 50 watts RMS going to door speakers and tweeter I replaced in the dash. I got a Rockford like yours with a Alpine 450. I am fairly new to the whole car audio thing, and I am a little unsure about how to set everything
    Thanks Chad

Well when you go to one sub, how are you going to build the box, just cut your current design in half. I would like mine to be out of sight out of mind, I am just looking for a little extra bass on the back end, you know>

Hey disregard, previous message. I will have to use the shallow mounts like you have. How do they sound, I have read that they don't get real low, but you know, I listen to mostly rock, country, pop. not a big rap listener. My biggest thing is that I just want one sub, I will go with the same one like you have, and one amp. Do you think that will sound ok. And, will I HAVE to use a Cap, and if I don't will my lights flicker?

This is the sub I was looking at, Just one, and like a mono 500 watt alpine amp. Do you think that this sub is too deep. I hate to keep bothering you, but I have read alot of your post and you seem to really know your stuff. I really appreciate your help, it has proved invaluable, in my weekend endeavor.

Hey Mark, I got all the Raamat and audio complete this weekend. Wow what a difference, I went with Alpine R series, all the way around, and I went with an Alpine CDA-9886 HU. I liked this HU cause I bought the Alpine power pack that plugs in right behind the HU and bumps the RMS up to 45X4. I was really impressed with how good it sounds. I also replaced the dash speakers with Cliff design tweeters, and the adapters off ebay. Overall it took some tuning, but it sounds way better. But all this leads me to my next question. I need a sub, but I really only want like 1 10 or 12 with a 1 amp. I dont want my lights to dim when it hits, and I dont want to have to buy a cap or anything like that. I just want that other dimension of sound that is missing. What is the mounting depth of your subs, and will one good sub, and amp be worth the trouble. What do you think buddy?

Jumbo, its me again, I have got some Alpine SPR 6x9 speakers to replace the factory front door speakers. Can you tell me how much depth, I have to play with in the front. The alpine's say 3 inches for top mount, and 3 3/8 inches bottom mount. I am trying to get this resolved before I install. I might just get some 6.5s for the front. But siince I am not using a sub, I thought I would get better results from a 6x9.

Jumbo, one more question, as I have gotten confused by looking at so many different forums. I have a double cab, without the factory JBl system, are the front speakers 6x9, and the rears are 6 1/2. Is that right. Thanks buddy
