We believe that all citizens who may lawfully carry a concealed handgun should be allowed to carry concealed in ALL restaurants in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
If you agree please sign this, for our gun owners in Va.
But if law abiding citizens, who where trained how to shoot, brought guns into reasteraunts, then what would happen to criminals who brought thiers??
sorry had to do that. I never worry much about law abiding folks, it's the criminal in me that looks at people and wonders who is gonna be the next idiot not to think about what might happen if he does that.
Good luck on repealing that law, or stopping it. I hope u guys can get it done.
I'm sure the "other side" will yell "Private property rights trump your right to carry"! But when they open their doors to the public and don't supply their own security, I think they forfeit the right to ban lawful carry on their property. If someone is injured by a gun wielding criminal on their property then I think you have a legitimate lawsuit. Of course, that doesn't bring back the dead. I guess, if it passes, you just boycott restaurants not honoring your privilege to carry for self defense. I hope you succeed because "feel good" legislation does more harm than good.
So the new law states you have to notify the manager of the restaurant that you have a concealed weapon, right?
What's so terribly wrong with that? Maybe you should have to notify the manager that you're high as a kite on weed and there just for the All You Can Eat pancakes and pasta. Anyways, why do you need a gun at Applebees and Fuddruckers?
You make a valid claim and I'll rethink not signing.

because the current law states you can open carry into a restaurant already however you can't conceal carry........so why allow the ones who have their conceal permits to carry too? If im concealed carrying and everyone makes a dinner plan so i head over, and oh i can't carry in......why should i have to leave my .45 in the truck and open the possibility for someone to break my window and steal it?? Plus who knows when im walking out and the place is packed so i parked in the back lot and its dark outside.....a man approaches with a knife demanding my wallet......crime happens everywhere, criminals don't worry about where you are at. That's why i prepare myself.

Or better yet, the man broke into your truck, stole your gun, and holds you up for your wallet and your wife's purse?
If you had made plans to go to Sizzler that night, maybe you should have left your 45 at home locked up where the kids can't reach it.
But if you do get held up and your wallet stolen, you should just give them your wallet. Then call 911 and report it. Shooting at the guy will only get you handuffs and a photo.

if i get held up i will defend myself and i have the right to do so when my life is in danger. I'd rather die an old man than laying in some parking lot or sidewalk downtown.
So i get held up and surrender my wallet to them to just have him grab it and kill me? man id really come out of that one good. Im not saying just start shooting, but i will draw and tell them once to either get the F*** away or i will do whats necessary and then the choice is theirs. If they run ill call the cops afterwards, if they dont and come at me, ill choose to protect myself and call the cops too as i would be doing nothing wrong. Oh and for someone to steal my gun in my truck, they aren't going to hang around they are going to break in and run. For calling the cops, There is no justice in this country anymore. Heres a good read and 100% true:

I think the State should stay out of this. I'm not on the "other side" but I do think that the owner of a private establishment should have the right to set whatever rules he/she wants. If you don't like them, you don't have to go in. Not providing what you deem to be satisfactory security should not forfeit any property owner's rights. I hope y'all get the law repealed, but I also hope you respect the rules/wishes of the private property owners on who's property you set foot. If it were my restaurant, I'd welcome CC license holders, carrying or not, but that's my choice. How'd you like it if I (or the State Legislature) dictated the terms by which I entered your place of business? That seems to be what you're after and it seems at odds with your wishes for protection of your own Constitutional rights.

i agree. Thats why this law needs to pass, THEN IT WOULD BE up to the owners of the restaurants, they just have to post it

That's the whole issue in a nutshell! Criminals don't respect anyone's rights. If you post a sign not allowing guns in your store only law abiding persons will comply. That's the trouble with gun laws, period! Yes, you need laws to establish guidelines for punishment and laws to let honest persons know how far they can go before they will get into trouble but the law itself doesn't deter crime. Don't get me wrong. I think property owners are allowed to do whatever they please with their property including restricting anyone they want from their establishment. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

exactly. The reason for the new law is to lay offenses to those that knowingly do not comply. They are the ones breaking the law, and they know it. And THEY are the ones to blame for this, not the people who know what the law is. You guys posting here in refute to this new ban are correct and you obviously know that you are being ousted, and it's totally BS. But it's totally BS because of those who probably carry illegal arms to begin with. Don't point the finger at anyone but those who don't register. Also, try not to get busted under the new law if it does pass. It'll only state their case against the wrong types of people.
