Well guys, I may have posted this recently...but I just moved back to NJ after five years in CA. I am SOOO aching to go off roading, but nothing I have found yet even comes close to the stuff I was in CA. Anyone have any favorite LEGALoff roading spots ANYWHERE in the Northeast or Mid Altantic states? Please post, the only place I know of is in the Pine Barrens of NJ and it's rather lame...I am looking for places to camp out, drive the rig, do some fishing, etc.

The only places I know of anywhere near here: Rausch Creek Park (in PA); Paragon (also in PA); George Washington National Forest (Western VA, not extreme but several trails throughout the entire forest system); Crozet (park in VA not far from Charlottesville VA). I've only been to GWNF and that was only once for an overnighter, lots of fun camping with the kids. My neighbor likes to take his Jeep to Crozet, says there's lots of rocks there. That's all I've got.

You can try Greenridge State Forest in Western Maryland. The off road trail is very tame and not very long (20-30 minutes) but the camping and fishing are very good. There is a nice hill climb at the end of the ORV trail (bunch of rocks and such) that some TTORA guys talked me into driving up about 5 years ago. I've been up it several times since then. It was "closed to traffic" last year but I went up it anyway. Guess it's not breaking the rules if the ranger isn't there. Anyway most of the camp sites are nice and isolated with pretty much no traffic on the roads. I go up once a year with friends from college and let loose for a few days.

Mike, try the Paragon. www.paragonap.com It's about six miles from my house. Not sure where in Jersey you are, but it's an easy ride out I 80 to I 81.
