Hey everyone. Since we had such a great summer anyone want to guess when the first snowfall will be? I am thinking the kids might actually be able to trick-or-treat without thier parkas covering thir costumes! I remember Christmas of 99 the kids were able to go out and ride there new bikes with just a windbreaker on. It was about in the high forties! (Yes, high forties in the middle of winter is almost tee shirt weather for all you non cold climate peeps.) Anyways, I am saying around Thanksgiving might be cold enough. As long as it is not too cold all winter that it can't snow.

Seems like we'd always get our first big snowfall around Thanksgiving weekend in central Indiana, and I can remember temperatures in the 60's on Christmas day. I haven't been to Indiana since 1990. I may go home for Thanksgiving this year, and I'll be driving. Hope the Revos get to play in some snow.
In the Twin Cities they are saying posible snow mixed with rain on Friday. Nothing that will stick though. Now that I have 4 wheel drive again I am kinda looking forward to some of the white stuff.

I don't mind the snow either. It's the cold!
I'm heading to Cody Nebraska (near Valentine) on November 4th for a week-long waterfowl hunting trip. I go every year about the same time and there certainly have been years when we have to deal with snow and frozen lakes. Other years we are getting sunburned in the 60 deg, weather.
I'm used to it though. I grew up in Schuyler, NE.
Light snow is still the prediction for the Twin Cities Metro for tonight. I'm sure it'll melt quickly though. One thing we can bet on is, it will stick eventually. As a kid I can recall wading in snow up to my knee's on Halloween.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!

Schuyler ... no $hit! I married a gal from Linwood who was a Schuyler Warrior, class of '77 (She'd kill me if she knew I disclosed this ). We don't live far from there now. She's straight out of the bohemian alps ... I see by your username that you're probably of the same persuasion!
I'm a transplant from Minnesota. There's not nearly enough of the white stuff here to go with the cold. My prediction for the first snow is November 12 ... just in time for the open of deer season.

p.s. Cody, Nebraska. Near ........ NOTHING!
You got it right! Schuyler Warrior class of '83. Yes, my username indicates that I am of Czech heritage. My folks are from just north of Leigh in Stanton county. They still live in Schuyler and will probably retire soon in Colorado.
If I heard your wife's maiden name I'm sure I would recognize it. I actually used to run the Bohemian alps near Bruno and Abby during track season, so I am familiar with them. Used to do some duck hunting near Linwood with a Macholan fellow. Even bailed hay one summer there for a Deithrich fellow.
You are also right that Cody is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Its only been in the last few years that you can even get a cellular signal out there. My home boys and I from Schuyler take a hunting trip there every year since the early 80's. The draw is the plentiful waterfowl, but the bonus is that it IS in the middle of nowhere. Makes me yearn for a simpler time!
For the record my name is Sindelar. It lost a little if its edge during translation when my ancestors came from Czechoslovakia.

It's a small, small world brother! I married a Macholan. Her brothers are Jim and Dave, uncle Bill, and cousin Eugene (Gene) ... all big duck hunters and live around Linwood, so it may have been one of them.
Sindelar ... I recognize the name. There are some here in Columbus that I have crossed paths with.
Well ... don't want to hijack this thread any worse than I already have. PM me if you want to talk more.
Was travelling home this past Sunday(oct. 17) from a hunting trip in the UP of Michigan. Hit a blizzard just north of Gaylord on I-75 w/ 4"-5" already on the ground. Passing lane was all slushed up, numerous cars in the ditch and a new style Durango on it's roof. Looks like it's going to be a long cold winter.
BTW- was running on facory Dunlop's-POS. Had Geolanders on my 03' 4 door TRD 4X4 Tacoma and they were outstanding on the slippery stuff- time for a trip to the tire store..
