Thumbs up Midwest Sports Talk! (It's all we have up here! :))

My son and I have tickets for tomorrow afternoons Viking , Green Bay game at the Metrodome. I guess who wins will depend on who's team members come to play. Neither team has been a picture of consistency so it could be a comedy of errors. Personally I hope the Vikes can pull it off and Tice doesn't lose his job because of a continued lack of discipline by his players.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???

Well, the game turned out to be a battle of who has the poorest defense and the Vikings proved once again they can lay claim to that Title. I will say that the Vike defense scored more points in the second half than our offense did. I'm embarrassed to say the least especially with our quarterback? being named to the Pro Bowl.

Default Third Time is a Charm

Well, the Vikes spanked Green Bay in the NFC Wildcard Game yesterday.

If they accomplish nothing else this season (which may be likely, depending on which team shows up in Philly), I will still consider this season a success for taking out Green Bay in such a decisive manner.

Go Vikes !!!

They did get their act together for this game. Makes one wonder why they've done so poorly the last half when the ability was there. I've followed them since they started in 61 with Van Brocklyn so I've been through all of their ups and downs and it was good to see them succeed yesterday. Especially against our arch rivals. One of our sports columnists commented this morning that even if Moss' IQ matches his number he can produce results when he wants to.

Sounds like you've got a couple more gray hairs than me! I was afflicted with Vikings fever by my dad and older brothers very early in life while living in south St. Paul. My earliest memory was crying over the Vikes loss in Superbowl VIII to the Dolphins (damn you to hell Larry Csonka!). I just knew that the Vikings were the greatest team in the world and couldn't possibly lose. Oh well ... that just served to harden me for the rest of my tormented life as a fan.

Moss ... what can you say? Early in the season I was conviced he had made a huge leap in maturity, guess I was wrong. Don't much care any more. He's just a product of the "It's all about me" sports world. He's still a game breaker, and while he still is, I want him on my side. The days are long gone when you can expect that players will give the game respect. EVERY routine play is punctuated with celebration and taunting. I long for the days when celebrating a first down would earn you a forearm to the chops on the next play ... but forget it, they're gone.

As a youth I idolized the players, Tarkington, Brown, Osborn, Foreman, Voigt, Rashad, White, Yary, Eller, Marshall, Page, Larsen, Tingelhoff, Krause, Blair. Now I'm a fan because of memories and loyalties ... the individuals mean very little to me any more.

That's just the problem...Moss is a disgrace!! and the coach should have pulled a Lou Holtz grabbed him by the facemask and dragged him off the field! If more coaches and owners took control anddid the right thing by "reprimanded" players rather than worrying about winning and truly backed the words coming out of their mouth the world would be a better place! What does that say to the back up players...that you are no better than a one legged man c'mon give me a break even a unpolished rookie could have run routes better than him once he was hurt....that was a insulting display by the coahces and display by Moss....If I were king! err coach he would be sitting the next game!....there is no place in sports for that but I guess thats what the beer swilling, uneducated public wants to see....grown men beating the crap out of each other in EVERY sport and lude crude and sexist acts everywhere....glad I aint rasing a kind in this out of control h*ll hole we call America

sorry had to vent....

It's been a trend in all professional sports as far as I'm concerned. McEnroe in tennis, any number of basketball players, Ricky Williams, Terrell Owens, Moss and their ilk in football doing their dances etc. hockey I never watch anyway, now it's Woods throwing his clubs in golf. There won't be any civilized sports before very long.

Question Vikings And Eagles?

Figured I'd better start another thread on this weekends game. If the last game was an upset what will this one be if the Vikes pull out a win? Next question is what kind of a demonstration can we expect from Randy Moss this time if he is able to play?
Who knows after all the losing trips to the Super Bowl the Vikes have made as the favorite maybe the underdog approach will work. Might be a better game than most people think. Pardon the lack of confidence, been here too many times.

Saw the news this morning about moss's response to his $10g fine. This guy is a slap in the face for the vikes.

But anyways , I'm rootin for the vikes eventhough it's questionable.
