This is a discussion thread titled "Where to buy in MN", within the Midwest forum, part of the News and Events category.
I'm new to Toyota and this forum and I was wondering where is the best place in the twin cities to buy a new taco? In talking to all of the local dealers, none have what I'm looking for and don't want to place a special oreder to get it! I want a ACC, 4X2, 2.7, AT, SR5, VSC, 6CD changer, fog lights. Most dealers won't order it because they say " it's listed as an option, but Toyota won't build it". Others say" we'll order it, but 3 mos from now, Toyota will cancel the order" I called toyota direct, and they claim they will build it- no problem. Now, who do I belive? In answer to your next question, no, I won't buy a prerunner- don't like the ride. I'm trying my best to not buy another chevy, Toyota is makin it pretty tough!
Update: Last night, I went to burnsville Toyota and ordered the truck( see above). I was told it can take anywhere from 6wks to 3mos, at that time, they will either build it or cancel the order. On the plus side, they didn't want any money down and I have the right to reject the truck when it comes in. Also, they put in writing they will sell it to me for 700 over invoice. I guess this about all I can hope for- all things considered.

You might have to try out of the metro area. Give St. Cloud Toyota a call and ask them. Thats where I get all my service done and I've seen a few tacos sitting out in the lot, but they all look to be 4x4's.
Another option is to try Corwin Toyota in Fargo. Twin City dealers are in the Chicago Region and Fargo is in the Kansas City Region and available or stock option items do vary between them.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
Well, update time! I decided to go with a taco I found on the lot at toyota city in Brooklyn dark- I mean Brooklyn park! I wanted a 4x2 ACC 4cyl, but ended up buying a loaded up TRD sport! The reason for the upgrade was all about pricing. They were willing to sell it 500 below invoice and throw in some extras and it wound up only costing 2500 more than the base truck I was going to order!! So far I think the truck is pretty cool! Talk about horse power!!
What ever you do DON'T go to MAPLEWOOD Toyota!!! See my post in the dealers section! UFF-DA!!!
I just bought my Tundra there. NO BS, got my deal. Out the door. But, I my salesman used to be with Luther and I followed him over there.
They went all the way to southern Iowa to get my truck when gas was $3.40. The trip was 600 miles round trip, I think that counts for something. They found me EXACTLY what I wanted. But, I had all my ducks in a row and and had all my numbers. If you know your sh*t there is no way they can screw you. IMHO
