I am in Alberta and i am looking to purchase a US model Tundra and import it.
I am looking for someone that either has imported a US truck or has a good dealer contact in Great Falls or spokan that i can talk to directly to arrange something.
I am also looking for any Toyota techs in the Edmonton area that has or knows the costs to replace the MPH speed with a KPH speedo... so far my email to a local dealer has gone un-answered.
I have done my comparisons and have decided on a crew max TRD.
yah, i did send a couple emails out to some dealers in Great Falls and Spokane, i was just wondering if someone out there has had a good experience with someone in those areas or dealers....
So if anyone knows a guy, who knows a guy, or dealt with a guy at "this" dealer and got a good deal, or was really happy, or the dearlership had great service , etc....
i want to know about it, so i can deal with them too... Also, some of those dealers have a referral bonus... $100 is yours if you refer the "right" guy to me and i get my truck through them...
send me a pm if you don't want to post in the thread, thanks
You can try Yakima, WA dealer. Jeff Cozetto. His cell is 509-952-6849
They have a couple of Crewmax 4X4 LTD. I live in Yakima and this is the first time I Have been able to buy here. Great dealer.
keep us posted, I am interested in doing the same thing and live near you...not surprising the dealers have not responded to your query on the changing speedos....they know what you are trying to do.....
do you have any sense on what the price differential after exchange rate is?
Hey Cliff, I have been doing some research into this and the exchange rate is really good ... basically , the pricing for Canadian models are using old rates ... but now the canadian dollar has been going up and up and up.... so the difference on a $35,000 US buy to canadian is only a couple K.... the same model locally is $10,000 more... which is why i am looking south of the border.
Maybe i can get the dealer i buy it from to put the kph speedo in... its just a part to them and they will be more willing to do it.
I bought my tundra and my camry from James Toyota in Moscow, Idaho. It is about 85 miles from Spokane. I deal with Chris Hutton there. He is a good guy. Here is their contact info:

I had heard that the option packages were slightly different, that the Canadian Crewmax Ltd will have more standard options than the American Crewmax Ltd. Not sure how accurate that is but it could explain part of the price difference. However it sounds like there are large savings to be had.
The US dealer will likely not want to install the new speedo since he is not supposed to be selling to Canadians. I suspect if you brought it into a dealer here in Alberta they would do it.
I would not worry too much about changing the speedo. I have been driving a truck from Texas since October and the dual speedo (mph/kph) is no problem.
I dealt with Brett Hauser at Downtown Toyota of Spokane and he was very fair and honest. I got a SR5 that came from the factory and I love it. I also used the Costco discount there. I don't know if there are Costcos in BC.
I just bought mine from Prestige Toyota in Billings, MT. I bought an 08 Salsa Red Crewmax i had some extra features put on it and still came out cheaper than with the Great Falls dealership and I live in Great Falls, MT. Ask for Jackson and tell him that Anthony from Great Falls sent you. They took really good care of me and I got a fair price.
I worked with a good guy on the internet at Downtown Toyota in Spokane. Steve Boyd is the internet manager. He used to be a hunting guide in N Idaho so he is NOT the typical car salesman. His Personal car is a crewmax Tundra. Make sure you get the daytime headlight option, a $40.00 option on the US package. It is a BUMMER to convert if you don't get it, and I think it is mandatory for you, right?
