Default Reedsport, oregon

Making a cross country road trip in June. Spent 2 of the best years of my life in Reedsport. Setting chokers and workin at IP. In those days the bars didn't have television, but had fights every nite. I'll be there in mid June. Any TS'ers in the area, I'd like to meet up.
thanks
joe

Reedsport is like a second home to me. I've tried to make a trip down there once or twice a year for the past 20 years or so. A lot of guys go there to fish, but for us it's the sand dunes and ATV's. The town has changed a lot during that time, but it still beats the one I live in all to heck. All the mills are shut down now, but you still see log trucks rolling through on their way to Coos Bay and North Bend. The last few years we always stay at the Fir Grove Motel at the end of town heading South. One of my favorite things is to go to the Mom & Pop restaurants there and see the old retired loggers and fishermen come in and BS over a cup of coffee. I wish I had started buying a retirement home there about 15-20 years ago, before the prices started going up. One of the favorite pastimes there on a Saturday night is to go up to the town dump and watch the bears come out. I'm not kidding, we asked one night at the local pizza place where everyone was at, and they said, "up at the dump watching the bears."

Thanks for the up date. When I lived there the local sheriff turned on his siren to go from the flats to the hill to eat lunch. That was the noon signal for the rest of us to stop for lunch also. I'm going to gold hill so I owe it to myself to visit. Hope it hasn't turned to yuppie.
