Question Tricities Area

noob to forum but not to life...

I'm this close to buying my first 4x4 pickup..I've always had awd cars (subies actually and still do) but they don't make a larger pickup..I need something which will be capable of some off-road duty but certainly not rock crawling.

My questiona are,who dealerwise is usually considered as having the best used 4x4 inventory in the NW states..I'll go where they are. ebay has been *ok* and I may go that route but I'd prefer actually feeling the truck first.

I thought I'd start out with an older Tacoma or T100/Tundra 97> with around 100k or less I'm fairly open if it's been well taken care of and had timing belts replaced (documented). That's my major issue with the older trucks, finding one which has been changed otherwise I'll have to have it done and at what cost??

Should I also considered the Nissan Frontier or even the Ranger/Mazda or is that blasphemy here?

How much larger is a 99 T100 then a LB Tacoma?

Any Ol'Tumbleweed E.Wa 4x4 clubs?

Has anyone heard if they are opening Juniper Dunes is the near future..that has to be one of the best play areas in the NW but then.. we have so many in E.Wa

1st Welcome aboard!

Stick with a Toyota and you won't be sorry. The others could eat you alive in repairs.

I was with the Sandpiper 4x4 club for quite awhile/Pacific Northwest Association and the United 4x4 association. great resources to be had visiting there websites.

We sure fought tooth and nail to keep Juniper Dunes open, never met the criteria for wilderness. Hope they do reopen it.

You missed the days of when Rd 68 was open and we would go out and play in the dunes on weekends or after work.

I have heard they are reopening the river road from the richland y along the causeway, that used to be some pretty extreme muddin area.

Of course when Bateman Island was still open we could go play and sink our trucks in bottomless muck.
