Big off-road hauling on the weekend?

Are you taking the not-so-little lady out for a picnic?

Naw, she rides in the bed...I bolted in a 10-point harness for her.

No, the offroad hauling will actually be me pulling a steering-axle hay wagon loaded down with coolers, booze, food, and 30+ warm bodies for an afternoon. I'll be pulling this tally-ho wagon through, woods, pastures, draws, creeks, hollers, and through some pretty hairy areas that the Fox hunt hunts in. It'll be a good test, because the dry weight of that wagon is up there, and then throw in a few dozen drunks...shooooooo weeeeee!!!

Then I'm going to bomb through the terraced pastures and put this b!tch through its paces!!!

Truck is in the shop now BTW.

Ok, Just got my truck back from the shop. Wish I coulda installed it all, and I wished that I coulda shadowed the mechanic...oh well. It's finally done after 3.5 mos of waiting.

It's not a hugely aggressive lift...2.5" front and 1" rear, but it'll be great for the farm! Here're some reference pics of the truck at stock height. I need to take more with it sitting on level ground.

Thanks for all of y'all's help and support!

Going down hill with all that weight might be fun too.

What's the definition of a "draw" and a "holler"?

What's the definition of a "draw" and a "holler"?

A draw is a depression that is on a slope....like a gentle ravine that "draws" water running down the slope of a hill or mountain...on a topo map, it is indicated by upward pointing points in asceding topo lines (lines that are indicating a general rise in the landscape.)

A holler, or hollow, is typically a depression in the landscape....it could be a draw, the area between two closely-occuring spurs, a deep saddle, a gentle ravine, or a valley between two hills or mountains. The ones we drive through are more like gentle ravines or creek bottoms.

C'mon man...you never done any orienteering before?

I was working a wildland fire several years ago and a crew from the hills started talking about hollers and wallows and such we were so confused.
They just had there own descriptions of saddles, ravines and draws.

Just as you've done, I've heard holler and draw being used interchangeably.

10-4 it's all kinda subjective it seems....I kinda look at the landscape and then figure it as a 'holler'

I didn't read the whole thread, but just saw that you want to use AAL's. I have heard that they give you a harsh ride. If you'd like to keep the stock ride in the back the best bet would be blocks from what I have read.

Yes, I did end up using AALs. I agree, for a street lift, the blocks would have been good for keeping a smoother ride. The ride is a little more jittery in the rear...this doesn't really bother me too much I like a stiffer riding truck (actually, it gives me the 'bed bounce' that everyone else was complaining about). Also, I didn't want to use blocks because I need to keep my tow and payload capacity up, and block compromise both. My goal was also to increaese the overall capabilities of the truck and not do any superficial changes.

Thanks for the suggestion though

Looks good Woody! I think you need to replace the tires though. Don't you remember how much they sucked when we went off-road?

Brenden...been thinking about the bigger tires, and I'd love to have more aggressive tread, but gas prices and plenty of on-road driving are keeping me from doing it...not to mention, I'm broke...need to save my $$$ for a horse and for vegas.
