Default Sliders mounted and painted!!

Well Saturday I spent about 11 hours up in Lancaster, PA (about 40 minutes from where I live) with Andy (jamarquardt22 on ttora.com) as we installed these Demello clone sliders. They were made for a 95-04 extended cab Taco and were bolt on, so one mount had to be moved and some fabrication had to done to make them fit properly. But the length was perfect and the width was great so they went one. And they were just welded on so we didn't have to drill all new holes.

I have to give A LOT of credit to Andy for spending so much time putting these on for me. He just as easily could have handed them over taken the money and let me be on my way but, he spent his entire Saturday working on my truck! And there was very little I could do since I can't weld. I just cut, wire wheeled, painted, and did what ever I could to help. So once again, thank you Andy for all of your help and I can't wait to put these to good use!

I have been painting them today so I decided to take some pictures. Enjoy!

Sliders unpainted:

Sliders with one coat of Rust-oleum Black Hammered; second coat will be done in about 15 minutes from now:

Nice! By the way, I started out with the Rust-oleum Black Hammered finish on my sliders too when I orginally had them installed by Richard Stubbs of Stubbs welding. After a couple of years of use and abuse I ended up going with Duplicolors spray in bed liner rattle can (link). That stuff works great and is far less slippery when wet than the Rust-oleum paint. If you rough up the paint on your sliders with a sponge type sanding pad, wipe it down and go to town with the Duplicolor product you won't be sorry! I almost fell on my a$$ and busted my shins several times when the sliders were wet before switching to the spray in bedliner stuff. Bought it at Wally-World. I can't quite remember the price, but it was in the $15/can range. I used two cans, one for each side with multiple coats. Touches up quite nicely!

Just a tip, your shins, your friends shins and your a$$'s will appreciate it too.

Thanks for the tip. I was actually thinking about using the very stuff you were talking about but making just a strip along the top edge. The guy who I got them from had his like that. His were painted silver though with this strip. So I might just tape off the slider and leave a nice strip open the entire length for the bed liner spray.

They haven't been wet yet but I can tell already how much of a step they aren't! Maybe I will take care of this soon before my mother gets in my truck
