So, i dropped my truck off at a local 4x4 shop, (Hidust4x4) and i guess it was a good thing i went ahead and got those gears....he opened up the front and found a couple of the teeth had been snapped off the stock gear....guess 4 snapped half shafts might of had a helping hand in that??
Im surprised i never felt any skips or anything in 4x4...hopefully it doesnt happen anymore with the new ones...anyone know if yukons are any stronger then the stock? And i didnt get them cryo'd due to scotty (addictedoffroad) mentioning that running cryo'd gears on road isnt a good idea.
Anyway, truck should be done tomorrow, just sucks that everyone and there brother gets to drive it before i do!!!
(Wife and rest of the family since i dont get back till like the 22'nd)

I'd be interested to hear why he doesn't recommend cryo for the road. It's a stress relief process more than anything else, and quite a few places I've talked to in the past have recommended it.
It's heat treatment that's not recommended for road use, as it softens the gears and will cause them to wear prematurely...so heat on the front is ok, but not the rear, and cryo should be fine on both ends.
When I upgraded to 35's and 4.88's, I had the gears cryo'd front and rear by a shop local to me. I tow a 26' travel trailer, go 4wheelin, daily drove her and no problems whatsoever.
Here's the shop I used: Performance Cryogenics. I love their tag line: "We freeze parts, not people". They have some info on the web page about cryo'ing parts.

Well other then the tierod link falling off due to just overlooking it when something came up we havent had any other issues. I will keep you informed as we go along, but so far im pleased. The tierod would have been an easy fix for me on the side of the road but seeing as it was the wife and i wasnt there to do it kinda turns into a big deal.
Anyway the price was right and the guy knows what hes doing (coming from my dad who is the one who talked to him since i couldnt, the few times i talked to him on the phone he seemed very knowledgeable as well.) The guy who worked on it was Kerwin so if you need anything done look for him.

Cool, thanks for the update. From my experience, Production Offroad is a much smaller shop, the owner actually turns wrenches in his shop (believe it!), I've been there a few times. Used to know a guy that worked there but he's off to try and startup his own place I think... HI-Dust has always been, from my experiences and eye-sore seeing stickers, a show truck shop. I believe you got the best estimate around here, maybe hidust has changed since I last went in there. I have no doubt that they know what they're doing, they build tons of trucks for Hampton Roads. There are a few more places you could have gone such as Pungo Offroad or Eastern Offroad (that'd probably be the most expensive one). Pungo is a good ole boys garage that builds talllll trucks on thick tires.
You in the area still? I'd really like to get a ride in that Tundra. Your photo albums are great btw.

Yea i actually got estimates from all of those shops you listed, eastern was def the most expensive at 1200, pungo and production were both 900-1100....So yea i figured i would def give him a try at the price of 750...to be honest i had never even heard of hidust, my parents neighbor is actually the one who suggested i try them and eastern.
Appreciate the comments on the albums, tried to post some of the better pictures i had and am trying to get the wife to take some of the truck now since i dont really have many of them that are up to date, dented bumper and all! haha...hopefully that bumper will be replaced soon enough...
Unfortunantly i am not in the area, you may however see the truck as it is in VA right now but i am in afghanistan and the wife/daughter/father all drive it while i am gone...unfortunantly i will be flying into BWI and from there we are headed back to DE...we may however come back down for a bit after that, if thats the case i will see if i cant catch up with ya.
