Yesterday I picked up my almost 2 year old son from the sitters on the way home from work. I decided to check out a dirt road down the street. With all the rain we've been getting lately, it was all mud. So I put it in 4 hi and had some fun. My son was laughing at every bump and mud hole we went through. As we were leaving I noticed a Chevy Blazer stuck in axle deep mud. 2 guys and 4 girls - all in high school asking for help. I hooked my tow rope to the front hook, shift in to 4 lo, and slowly backed up. I pulled 'em right out. This is like the second time I've done it but it just makes you feel good, ya know ?
I love my Tundra. Most of all, my 2 year old son had a blast !!!
DJJ there's almost no better feeling (might be a guy thing), than pulling out a fellow comrade. Glad to hear you know what you're doing "pulled out slowly". I used to own a 78 International Scout II, 345, 4 barrel, duals, lift, lockers. I got it for like $500.00, and added some off roading "goodies". It looked like complete hell, but that's what made it fun. No worrying about scratches or the occasional tree. The "Lead Sled", was very fond of "helping" out fellow wheelers. Ah those were the days...................................

I've gotta agree with you there. Plus, mudding is just insanely fun in general. But, overall, the best feeling when you're mudding is being able to get yourself unstuck without anyone else's help , cause getting stuck is just horrible.

Ain't that the truth!
Back when I still had my 94' 4x4 Toyota (pre-Tacoma) with an ARB winch bumper, I was helping a buddy of mine on a big house renovation job while I was in a lay-off period early last year. During that time it had snowed maybe 5 or 6 inches. His work truck, which he had that day, was a massive 2003 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab decked out for the street. When he went to leave for the day he backed his truck down a very small ant hill, maybe 12" or less high from the driveway, just off the side of it and was unable to get back up it! No mud, no holes... just some packed snow. This was a very nice upscale yard too so it wasn't like he was in the back bayous of Louisiana or something... needless to say he was both completely fired up that he got stuck and completely happy that I pulled him out with teeny-tiny little Toy. He was so heavy I had to brace against a huge pine tree. It was like pulling the S.S. Nimitz out of the ditch. To this day he still gets a subtle reminder that if his behemoth gets stuck in a parking lot somewhere, give me a ring and I'll come a'runnin.
Now, to be fair to him, his Ford wasn't a 4x4 and weighed about 762 tons with what I'd consider "slicks" on it. Regardless, it was nothing but fun to let him have it!

Careful! He may be hooked for life! When I had my 86 Toy 4X4 22RETC Pick up I ttok my 2-year old 4 wheeling at Knik Glacier in Alaska. We had a blast. The truck was covered in glacial silt. It used to be white but that day it was all brown! My son still talks about it to this day! He is eight now. He was only in a car seat then. My son and 5 Year old daughter are the ones that get me to go mudding now. If we are driving and they spot a mud hole they tell me about it and of course I got to satisfy them! Anyways! I am sure it was a blast as they always are!

Imjim, that's great. I think back to my old departed 94 sometimes, and it was a really good truck (and it had nice thick paint). I'd pulled a few people out with it and some of them weren't overly happy to be "retreived by an import" as they would put it, but I just thought it was funny. A couple of times I would reply, "Well if it's an issue, I can leave you where you're stuck, I'm sure someone will come along", or "Should've bought a Toyota". I generally only broke those out if someone REALLY took issue with my fine blue rig. Great story.

I like the blue color on yours. Mine was white and seemed to stay habitually dirty. I tried to keep it fairly pristine like yours looks there. There was some cracking on the side of the bench seat, but after 10 years, I guess that's expected. I swear those things had some seriously strong paint like you said too. I've got some pics in my photo section of her *sniff* I think I bought the same aftermarket rear bumper too! Mine rusted out after taking it on the beach in Nags Head one too many times.
One thing I don't miss is the cramped quarters of a standard cab. I feel all grown up now!
