I finally replaced the stock tires with BF Goodrich AT 265/75/16 KO just a few days before the Mojave Road trip last weekend. This was my second trip on Mojave Road, last year with the stock tires. I didn't get stuck anywhere on the trail this year and the extra height from the tires, no rocks scraped under the truck.
I made my decision on these after reviewing the forums for the maximum tire size. No rubbing at all with the 265/75/16.
Mojave Road Report:
The Mojave Road travels through the middle of the Mojave National Preserve and in between the I-40 and I-15 in South Eastern California. The road starts on the banks of the Colorado River near Needles and ends at the I-15 between Baker and Barstow. Just over 130 miles of trail with some of the most beautiful views imaginable. Most of the road is an easy drive, however four wheel drive and good vehical clearance is necessary and there are a few places where the terrain is more difficult.

We started Mojave Road from the Colorado River and drove the whole length. Except Soda Lake which had standing water (detour I-15 to Rasor Road). We camped Friday (10/13/06) night in Mid-Hills campground. We experienced heavy rain, hail and lightning through the night. We were lucky, I had my tent setup before the show started. We were concerned that the trail would be muddy and perhaps washed out or impassable the next day. But due to the sandy soil, the trail was in great condition. We camped at Seventeen Mile Point on Saturday night. We had a spectacular sunset that night and a beautiful sunrise Sunday morning. There is nothing like watching the landscape as the colors and lighting change during sunset and sunrise.

My first trip on Mojave Road was at this same time last year. I plan on doing this again every year (or more often). I’ve never seen anything like the views that are here in the Mojave National Preserve. Each year I experience it in a different way.
I highly recommend this
