Friend's Dodge Hemi VS. My Tundra - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

My friend drives a 1500 Dodge Hemi.

--It's about 2 yrs. old and he doesn't really take care of it like he should.
--Only mod on it is an intake. It's 4 door 2wd.

He wants to go up against my Tundra
--5.7L Brand new DC
--4x4

What you guys think? I can take him?! He wants to do a Tug-of-war and Race me.
Should I put it in Low 4x4 in S shift for the tug?
Should I just race him in Automatic with traction control on or off?

If you are over 18 I would suggest......oh ...nevermind. Tug O war?......You are serious? Yeah....good luck with that. Don't burn your hands.

Do you really want to do all that to your new truck? I would just let your friend have his ego. Just tell him he'll win in everything so he feels all happy.

BTW, the Hemi will not win in a drag race. Just leave it in auto and pull away. In the tug, let him start spinning his tires first, then you take off. You have the advantage of being heavier and 4WD.

Yea, I never agreed to do the tug o war since it is brand new. I just wanted to see what you guys think of it haha

I think your friend is a moron...but, that's just my opinion. Like David T. said, let him carry on with his childish games...you have nothing to prove.

He wasn't trying to prove he has the better truck, he was just wanting to see what tundras could do. He wasn't talking smack or anything, sorry if I made it out to sound like that. It was just small talk.

The traction control will keep you from spinning your tires. That is one reason why those tug of war vid clips are such BS. The Tundra has traction control while the others don't.

Even sans the traction control, you can forget about it proving anything. Not worth it.

turn off all traction control and launch in 4hi for your 0-60, you should be able to take him.

I would leave the trucks parked and do a real tug of war with a rope and pit of mud. See what he thinks of that.

Or, you could have a 10 pace duel.

Say, guys and gals in 20 year old isuzus and Rangers are hitting it at stop lights beside me to feed their egos - I think its a joke one of those 4 bangers or 6 really trying to beat the 5.7 off at a light!!! I just take it easy and realize when you're in the 07 Tundra you don't have to prove anything!!!!!!

I would avoid the tug of war...great way to screw up your truck. Your freind is obviously jealous of your new truck. Let him stew in it.

Tug-o-war proves nothing in trucks... you want to win it? Just put 1000 lbs of sand bags in the bed before you race... I guarantee even your 10+ year old F150 would win. All it proves is how good your tires are and how much weight is over the rear wheels.
Aside from that there is never a situation where that would do anything. At least in races, you can pull out of a toll-booth or get onto an on-ramp with gusto, but those tug-o-wars are useless...
