well there is a difference between a real problem and a what if problem. real problem goes back to the dealer and let them fix it since it DOES have a warranty.

the what if problem ..... well those types of people are GOING to find something they can possibly think just might happen to them and only them and run with it over and over.

look there are no perfect vehicles made today. none! nada!! zero!!! never have bought one that did not have a least one problem with it. it just ain't gonna happen.

but to get on here and complain just to complain ... well i got better things to do with my life. as a wise person once told me. either you are part of solving the problem or you become the problem. why worry bout tomorrow when tomorrow isn't even here yet.

now back to the garage ..... i need to check and see if the sun's uva and uvb rays are going to make my factory window tint fade in the next ten years or so

I think you hit the real issue. I don't mind having a place for people to vent or
talk about issues, but I think the real issue is the fact that every issue seems to be talked about over and over and over. That's my only gripe. I'm not saying that every person needs to search for posts that are months old just to find answers, but at a minimum look at the first few pages of posts.

Something to keep in mind on an open forum is that people can only say "I love my truck", "look at my mod", or "look, I washed it" so much. If this forum was only for people that were 100% happy with their truck, then I think it would get rather boring. I like hearing a bit of everything... even the crybabies from time to time.

I think the forum exists not to just talk about the weather, but to discuss problems that people might be having with their trucks. If someone doesn’t want to know about the problems and just deal with the service department, then one should stay away from forums in general. Its only natural that people are going to post problems/questions/observations here. Its also natural that people will seek out others with similar situations to get their perspective on things.

I think it’s a great place to learn the details about the operation and behavior of the truck from others who are actually driving them. My service manager doesn't drive a Tundra.

An example that comes to mind is the comments about the tranny sticking in 4th gear when VSC is turned off and D is selected. Do you think the dealership would tell you about that? Nope, they probably don’t even know about it. That information came from members who posted about their real world observations regarding this.

A person is not a “crybaby” for posting about a problem here.

Trolls are a whole other matter and that will always be a problem on any forum.

Don't take this the wrong way but, its guys like you that come across as negative you don't want to help anyone just complain about them complaining so much. I mean let the bugs get worked out already so no one else has to deal with these probs. IMO that is what an open forum is for .
Nothing, the problem is it's like the little boy who cried wolf. Eventually people start ignoring you.

IF people weren't so lazy/ignorant and used the search function, and then posted in relevant, already created threads about a problem they're experiencing things would be so much more useful. How many bouncing bed threads do you need? How much useful information are you going to find throughout all those threads? The more threads get posted about the same thing the less chance anyone is going to take it seriously and the thread fills up with useless garbage.

I will say that the mods could help out by merging threads. At least that's what is done on some other forums I read. This helps keep down the signal to noise ratio and makes the forum much more useful.

I agree 100%. Too many cry babies. Some come here before even trying to address the problem with the dealer. You also, don't know who is being truthful and who is a troll. On top of that I just got a warning from the admin for calling a troll a troll!

As far as a solution. Some people need to act like a grownup. Deal with it! Use the Search function. Discuss with the dealer. Posting your possible Tundra problem here first should not be a reflex! Next, I vote for a verification process so Tundra owners are proven owners. Next, admin/mods need to be reasonable. I should not get dinged for calling out a troll unless I am proven wrong. How about an appeal process for warnings?

Cool Re: cry babies

As a new forum member with a new Tundra truck, I want to hear both the good and the bad experiences that other Tundra owners are having. If a group of people are complaining about one thing, then I can probably expect to encounter that same experience, or not be surprised when/if it happens to me.

This forum has been pretty cool; I used someone's suggestion for a electric brake controller (a Prodigy 90185), which I would have had no other reference for. I was surprised at the performance of the brake controller when I towed my camp trailer all over Montana this last week.

In short, I want to hear from everybody. There will be a few people that are simply here to be forum trolls and to incite flame wars, but the information that is available here is simply not available at a dealership. Together we negotiate, separate and alone we beg....

I have read the past posts of the "offenders" such as myself and all seem like reasonable guys with good input for the forum....so what's up mods? What say you? Why not go after the obvious trolls instead of spending time scolding forum members who just want a better experience around here. Maybe the mods are doing plenty behind the scenes but.....

All I have to say is that my 07DC is going back to the dealer. I added big stickers and a double shelf spoiler, but have not gained any horsepower....WTF?!!! I thought stickers were good for at least 5hp each!

In general, it is not in keeping with the guidelines of this site to attack someone because YOU do not believe the information contained in a post, or to assume that any post reporting a Toyota problem is being posted by a TROLL.

Show the same common courtesy you expect from others.

If you see someone breaking our site rules - report it. If instead you choose to react and in doing so break a site rule - we will call you on it.

Makes sense to me. There are a few trolls who frequent this site though. That can't be denied.

We have recently updated our site rules to include the following:

Derogatory, inflammatory, blatantly false, or misleading messages intended to cause a forum disruption and to provoke other members (ie. Trolling) will not be tolerated. Threads or posts will be removed without notice. 1st offense will result in a "Troll" warning, second offense will result in account suspension.

Also we are more consistently looking for posts that are intended to "bait", "flame", insult and attack members. We are actively warning and giving infractions with the end goal of maintaining a positive & friendly forum community.
