well i have changed my mind on what im gonna do with my tundra, from lifting it more to lowering it, new axles and new transfer cases.... But i was thinking, i am spending too much money on my truck for how little i use it for off roading. Besides, I am going to need something a little more practical when i get older, not some tall @$$ truck that i have to jump in to, or some truck that i have to climb in to the bed of to retrieve tools and what not, but i have always wanted a cummins diesel, so i was looking at the 2006 4 door dodge 2500 4x4s. I want one so bad now. What do you guys think?
I'd think about it real hard or sleep on it for several weeks. In the end you'll make the decision and you will choose what makes you happy. I've been there going crazy on mods...good thing gas prices went up because I almost spent over 3 grand on a TRD Supercharger, and many say the SC for the 1st Gen Tundra was not without issue.
I've had the same thoughts on trading my Tundra for the X-runner. I still like driving sporty vehicles and I'd love to load supplies and stuff on a lower truck bed. Only a few things that keep me from gettting the X-runner, rear seating is not so generous, I think it comes in manual tranny only, and the gas mileage won't be any better. Instead, I may trade my old 02 Nissan Maxima for possibly a sporty-ish car instead; 350Z, G-Coupe, IS350, or BMW 335I TT.
im in the same boat..i want a 2500 cummins realllly bad. But i just dont know if i want to have another truck payment each month, and if i do, im gonna buy one from another forum where someone already has some work done such as chip, intake exhaust.....im still thinking about it.

yea the truck payment is whats going to get me, and im not sure how much i can get for my tundra, and being that i am only 18. but i am really considering getting one, and leaving it pretty much stock, except for a chip and exhaust and what not. I'm not sure if i would buy one already with a chip, you never know how hard the person before has dogged it... the same goes for a lifted truck, you never know if it has been up to its doors in water or buried in the mud...

Good luck!
well me getting a new truck wont happen for about another year or so, this one is almost paid off, so it will be a little after that last payment is made until i really start looking. I just need something that will be reliable (not that the tundra isnt) and something that will get better gas mileage, and something that is a bit bigger on the inside.
Whatever it is you do for a living, I'd like to do it too, because that's some serious coin for such a young guy.
well im talkin about when i turn 20, so the 06's will be a little cheaper in 2009, but i will settle for an 04 or 05, it just depends..... its just an idea i was tossing around

Try to remember those 2500s are work trucks, and they are pretty crappy overall. If you want to pull something heavy, its a great truck, if you want to just drive it...don't bother.
Maybe you should keep the Tundra and get yourself something sporty. A little ricer or a GTI.

Didn't you just mention something about "better gas mileage" a couple of posts before. Big vehicles and good gas mileage are pretty much mutually exclusive. It seems like your first post was mainly complaining about how big your truck is, and then it was suggested that you get something smaller.
Going to something like a GTI would pretty much double your gas mileage easily. Both my M3 and my 325 get about double my Tundra....

my first post is complaining about how big my truck is, and getting a stock dodge 2500 would be smaller, lift wise.....
Keep it and drive it to death. Toyotas did well in the "keep it for 200,000K and save $31,000" Consumer Reports auto survey, though the Tundra wasn't mentioned. It's what I'm all about. I still have my 92 Toyota 1-ton. It makes a great mobile dumpster in its retirement. But, where's the $31K?

You're right, it was a later post about the gas mileage. Why not just ditch the lift kit & hit the ebay with the parts?
The other thing to consider is that it's fun to have a "project" or a "toy." I still have to second the idea of buying something cheap and more practical to do the daily chores. Keep your truck for fun stuff.
It's very difficult to find a good all-rounder. While the Dodge 2500 may seem more practical, it won't do the things your lifted truck can do, and I suspect you may miss that ability at some time.
Trust me, I've been through something similar with track cars. While the idea of a street/track car looks good on paper, it's never as good as having a dedicated vehicle. If the truck is tied to your hobbies (or is your hobby), then it might be worth considering a cheapie for the day-to-day stuff. I'm betting that a Dodge you buy now will be sitting on a lift kit in a couple of years......
