Yeah Im fine... A guy had stopped in the middle of the road around a corner.... I slammed on the brakes put to no avail the tires just skidded. The funny thing is the airbags didnt even deploy. The engine is fine however the cooling fan is pushed back and it looks like itll need a whole new front end.
My truck looked similar after attacking a deer in Montana. The deer didn't fair too well, either. It cost about $6200 to get the truck fixed (insurance paid it). I didn't have any damage done to the fenders, though.
Hope you get it back looking all pretty and functional, once again. You didn't say, was anyone hurt?
Forutanetely no one was hurt. A guy had stopped in the middle of the road around a corner and with the snow banks so high I couldnt see him until the last moment. He had a rear mounted spare tire so it hit the Tundra in it's weakest spot in the front. I finally got the hood up and it looks like just the fan housing was pushed back a little as well as the radiator. All of the mountings for the lights are busted and the hood and bumper are smashed to smitherines.
Ouch....that really sucks just looking at it because it almost happened to me as well eariler this morning. Glad to hear that you're ok. Well if its any compensation at least you can have those little annoying paint chips in front fixed
It seems like overkill to everybody that knows me, but I put winter tires on both our vehicles, and I've been pleased with their ice traction. I've had good traction on ice too slick to walk on. I put Bridgestone Winter Dueler DM-Z2 tires on the Tundra and Kumho Izen on the car. I do not think that there are any all-season tires; lots of 3-season tires, with the possible exception of that one Nokian all-season tire that also has the snowflake-on-the-mountain winter tire symbol.
Hell I was in a similar accident and slammed into the side of an 89 Chrysler Towncar ( solid steel and driven by a drunk. ) doing about 45 mph, then was rear ended by someone doing approx. 50 mph and my airbags didn't deploy either. My truck is still at the body shop with over $10,000 in damages. Insurance hasn't investigated crap and I'm a little frustrated, but now I'm curious to know if the Tundra's were designed a certain way that limits the bags from deploying. Anybody aware of what speed or how bad the impact has to be?
Holy crap. good photog, Bad truck...Sorry. My toes are cringing for you as i write. the way the hood is buckled, and the grille all broken in half...well maybe you could upgrade to an I.S. Kit if you like them, or maybe a 2003 front end if you like those...i think i'd go with the '03 front end.
I've read BFG All-Terrain T/A's are great for snow and ice...I noticed you're equipped with them. Don't look like they did to well in the powder. Again, sorry to see that happen to a tundra.
