Default interesting, mini goes 145mph

hi,
just found out my friends mini ,yes a mini does 145mph.
he gets to 135 rather quickly, but it takes a little while ,but not that long to get to 145.
wow! and we do 105.
truck or not, that thing can fit in my bed.
in my opinion that tiny tiny toy should max out at 65.
but they do have about 8 air bags like that would help.

It's a matter of Power vs Weight ratio, along with aerodynamics. A Formula 1 car is very low, weighs about 1000 lbs and has 800 or so Horsepower. It will go to 200 + mph in only a few seconds.

A Mini has close to 200 HP and weighs about 2500 lbs ( Ratio of 12.5 to 1). A Tundra has about 275 HP but weighs 5000 lbs for a power ratio of 18 or so. To add further to the ignominy, the frontal area of the truck is not very aerodynamic and is about twice the size of the Mini's.

The laws of Physics never lie.............

BTW, I would rather be in a Mini at 135 mph than in a truck.

Power To Weight Baby.
My CBR 954 will do 170+
140+ of that is less than 10.5 seconds away (if you can get it launched) .
Only weighs about 600lbs with me on it though.

Sitting in my daughters little friends Mini convertible reminds me a lot of my bike, doesn't seem much bigger to me

Theres a lot of cars that can do around 130mph (no speed limiters)...
I used to take my 96 galant to 135-140mph, depends on the wind and slope. LOL! It took a couple minutes and a whole lot of road but it got there I still had about 500 rpms left before I hit my rev limiter but was running out of road.
It had eibach springs and H rated tires though, I wouldnt have tried it without.

o.k. so truck, car ,bike, if we all crash whats the difference at speeds of 100 in a truck or 200 on my bike. both horrible out comes.
alli im saying is the srt10 has a higher speed, lightning has a higher speed, the titan has a higher speed, the list is endless ALL are much higher.

this wouldn't be a issue if we all had the same top speed's, 125 ,135, etc.
but come on 105, please thats so pi$$ poor.

and as far as those cars, everyone has been saying crash, wind, etc. the heavyer the more weight to the ground, less chance for the air ot get under , lift and fly.

bottom line, is this will be my last tundra, unless they raise there speed limitor.
i could care less about dependability, because i keep them a few years. i'm not looking to keep any of my vehicles for 10 to 20 years.
i'd rather use them immediatly and enjoy them.
and gas price's, unless you need the vehcile for work, who cares if it goes to 7 per gallon, it has to be paid, right. what are you going to buy, a electric car, hybr., 4cyc. there goes that towing of your boat, now, as we all know costly putting it even a dry dock, never mind a slip in the water, even a 18 footer is expensive. so i guess your boats will all be up for sale too.
and no more big boy trucks for sure.

invest in scooters, now. they will be a big big ticket item. in the near future.
i said it here 1st.
well got to go,
gorilla

Do you read your posts? Your comparing your Tundra which is not a performance truck to every other performance truck on the market?

Why don't you do some of us a favor and go buy a Lightning, SRT10 or Titan (all of which struggle to perform regular truck duties) and stop complaining about the damn tundra speed limiter. Last time I checked there isn't anyplace to bust out 105mph anyway. And at almost $4.00 per gallon I don't know of who would want to go that fast regularly.

I've never seen a Lightning or a SRT10 pull a boat (They are not geared for towing. Just for going fast). Christ in three years at a lumber yard I've seen one Lightning come in here and it struggled to haul out what I load on my Tundra regularly.

These posts are ALL the same, boo hoo about only going 105 in a 5200 lb truck. What kind of 8 ply load D speed rated tire are you running anyway? Are we boating or racing? If you don't like the truck SELL IT, and stop crying about it, I'm sure the poor bastard that gets rearended by you driving your 135 will really appreciate your new speedy truck. I would think it would be hard to repack the chute after every red light! Good luck with your new truck. The Dodge is a real head turner, I heard, lol..............
